Wolf Tooth Drop Stop ST Chainring

With its 12-speed groupsets, Shimano has introduced new standards for chainrings and chains. These are designed to work together and cannot be combined with products from other manufacturers. Wolf Tooth has developed the Drop Stop ST technology and the matching single-chainring to address this.

Compatible with all Shimano 12-speed MTB direct-mount cranksets and compatible with 12-speed Shimano HG+ and 12-speed KMC chains.

Shimano 12-speed MTB cranksets are available with different axle lengths for standard and Boost frames. These all require chainrings with a 3 mm offset.

Wolf Tooth Drop Stop ST technology:

Wolf Tooth’s patented Drop Stop ST narrow-wide tooth profile offers the ultimate chain guidance and self-cleaning for Shimano HG+ 12-speed chains. The right-hand side of the tooth is as wide as possible to maximise the contact area with the chain. More contact area means that the load is distributed over a larger surface, which in turn reduces wear. The left side of the tooth is narrower than the chain’s roller pin, so Wolf Tooth has removed excess material to create a channel allowing dirt to drain away. More contact area and space, in turn, means a lower likelihood of the chain dropping off due to dirt whilst riding.
