Wolf Tooth Drop-Stop B Oval 1x chainring for conversion of Shimano GRX FC-RX810 / FC-RX600 cranksets, 110 mm asymmetrical bolt pattern, 9-12-speed chains, 38 teeth
Wolf Tooth Drop Stop B Oval Chainring
This oval single-chainring has been specially developed for converting Shimano GRX FC-RX810 and FC-RX600 cranksets with an asymmetrical 110 mm bolt pattern. This allows existing chainring combinations to be converted to a single-chainring drivetrain, saving weight and creating a clean, tidy look. Thanks to PowerTrac technology, the chainring is 10 per cent oval and features a less aggressive 112-degree timing. It is compatible with all 9-11-speed chains from all manufacturers and 12-speed chains from Sram, Campagnolo, KMC, Connex and Wipperman.
Wolf Tooth Drop-Stop B technology:
Wolf Tooth’s patented Drop Stop B narrow-wide tooth profile offers the ultimate in chain guidance and self-cleaning. The right-hand side of the tooth is as wide as possible to maximise the contact area with the chain. More contact area means that the load is distributed over a larger surface, which in turn reduces wear. The left side of the tooth is narrower than the chain’s roller pin, so Wolf Tooth has removed additional material to create a channel allowing dirt to drain away. More contact area and space, in turn, means a lower likelihood of the chain falling off due to dirt whilst riding.
Wolf Tooth PowerTrac technology:
More power? Check. Better traction? Definitely. Fewer gear changes? Yes indeed. Funky, uneven pedal stroke? Sure. The design offers 10 per cent ovality and a less aggressive 112-degree timing. The change in pedal stroke is imperceptible to most riders, but it offers the benefits of POWER and TRACTION inherent in oval chainrings. It’s like having two chainrings in one! The PowerTrac rings engage in the section with the larger diameter at the optimal point of the downward stroke, known as the Power Zone – like on a clock face between 1–5 and 7–11 – to harness the biomechanical POWER inherent in the body and knee stroke: In this section, for example, the 34-tooth oval chainring corresponds to a non-oval chainring with 36 teeth. Similarly, during the upward stroke – also known as the recovery zone – like the area on a clock face between 11 and 1 and 5 and 7 – the smaller section engages, thereby maximising EFFICIENCY in the weakest part of the pedal rotation. In short, the ‘Power Zone’ ensures a smoother, more efficient pedal rotation and a more consistent torque with fewer revolutions, whilst pedalling in the recovery zone is made easier to maintain momentum.
