Mountain bike crankset, Race Face Turbine Cinch 30, 136 mm axle, chainline 52 mm, crank arm length 160 mm, colour black, with Race Face Direct Mount chainring Single Narrow Wide, available in a choice of 6 colours
The complete range: Race Face Turbine crankset arms with Race Face Narrow Wide chainrings, available in 6 colours and sizes from 24 to 38 teeth.
The Turbine crankset features a 30 mm aluminium axle for frames with 135–142 mm rear end spacing. Significantly lighter and compatible with all standard bottom bracket types.
The most reliable aluminium crankset on the trails, and has been for thirty years. The Turbine impresses with its incredibly stiff and dynamically responsive ride, as well as uncompromising durability. So hop on your bike and go full throttle! The Turbine won’t let you down. Years of unrivalled robustness and longevity have earned the Turbine a place in the hall of fame of cranksets. But don’t be fooled by its competitive weight and modern look. This crankset is built to withstand any challenge. Thanks to the proven and future-proof CINCH system, you can fit these cranksets to your next bike and the ones after that. What’s more, switching to a different chainring for your next race or road trip is incredibly easy. Almost too easy. For maximum strength, this crankset is forged from 7000 Series aluminium and then machined to file away every unnecessary gram. Thanks to its low flex and high impact resistance, rocky terrain will only elicit a weary smile from you.
The Direct Mount chainrings can be changed quickly and easily using the lockring. Unfortunately, like all other manufacturers, Race Face has its own standard for the Direct Mount chainring mount. This means that only Race Face chainrings and spiders, or those from third-party manufacturers such as Wolf Tooth, fit this specific mount. With the spider (item no. F10017), it is also possible to fit the Turbine crankset with two chainrings.
The Race Face Narrow Wide Direct Mount aluminium chainrings have a 3 mm offset. As these are not directional, they can be fitted with the offset facing inwards or outwards. This extends or reduces the chainline by 5.5 mm. With the Atlas cranks, the chainline can be adjusted from 52 mm for rear triangle installation dimensions of 135 mm to 148 mm to 57.5 mm for rear triangle installation dimensions of 150 mm or 157 mm.
The integrated 30 mm aluminium bottom bracket axle is particularly lightweight and allows the Race Face Turbine crankset to be fitted to frames with BSA threaded, BB92 press-fit and PF30 press-fit bottom bracket shells. Race Face thus combines the advantages of the BB30 system and makes it compatible with classic threaded bottom bracket shells as well.
Race Face offers the cranks with different axle lengths. The axles can be swapped and are also available separately.
The first Turbine crankset was developed by Race Face in 1993 for a growing number of riders on Vancouver’s North Shore who wanted a stiff and responsive crankset without compromising on weight – a crankset that could withstand the rigours of the local trails. Now, almost 30 years on, the latest evolution of the Turbine honours the Shore heritage with the rugged aluminium workhorse you’ve come to know and love.
For maximum strength, the new Turbine is forged from 7000 Series aluminium and then machined to shave off every unnecessary gram. The Q-factor (the technical term for the width between the pedal mounting points on the cranks) has been reduced to match the feel of modern cranksets. In addition, a more robust lockring has been fitted. Best of all, however, is its low flex and high impact resistance for brilliant performance on rough terrain.
