The Sram Truvativ GXP bottom bracket with BSA threading for Truvativ and Sram MTB cranksets
Truvativ’s external bottom bracket for cranks with an integrated axle. Other systems rely on lateral load to adjust the bearing play. However, this leads to premature wear of the bearings. GXP works differently: the left-hand bearing is clamped between the bottom bracket axle and the left-hand crank arm. The right-hand bearing remains axially free to move on the bottom bracket axle; the bearings do not need to be subjected to lateral load during adjustment. The GXP system uses two special precision ball bearings and a total of eight seals.
