Fulcrum Speed Team 42:
The carbon fibres and resins are manufactured in accordance with specific Fulcrum specifications. The Speed 42 is the first to use a new composite blend of unidirectional FF100 high-modulus fibres. The ideal fibre combination was determined through extensive testing. Thanks to precise lamination and exact control of the resin, the result is a rim that offers balanced damping, meets the highest professional standards and guarantees an outstanding riding experience.

The new Fulcrum Speed Team was created to celebrate the spirit of competition and the adrenaline of racing – this has always been the soul of Fulcrum. The new Speed Team wheels are an evolution of the Speed 42, retaining its technical specifications – with one crucial difference: a lighter freehub body featuring USB (Ultra Smooth Bearings) ceramic bearings. This race-ready solution enhances smoothness and efficiency, whilst also eliminating friction and guaranteeing a unique riding experience.
The new rim profile of the Fulcrum Speed 42 DB has been further aerodynamically optimised. To improve rolling resistance and thus the speed of the wheel/tyre system, the model has been developed in the 2-WAY FIT version. The 2-Way Fit carbon rim bed has no spoke holes, resulting in a stronger and more robust construction that can withstand even extreme racing conditions. Together with 28 mm tyres, the new, wider rims offer uncompromising performance: optimal aerodynamics, low rolling resistance and high comfort. The resins and fibres used for the new Speed 42 are made from a new composite blend of unidirectional FF100 high-modulus fibres. Extensive testing has identified the perfect fibre blend; through correct lamination and extremely precise control of the resins, we are able to produce a rim that offers the perfect level of damping whilst meeting the highest performance demands of professionals and guaranteeing a superior riding experience.
Fulcrum Speed DB Disc Hubs:
The new Fulcrum Disc hubs. The aluminium rotor saves weight. The adjustable ball bearing system with USB ceramic bearings reduces friction and ensures long-lasting, consistent top performance. Simple and quick adjustment. Aluminium axles reduce the weight of the wheel. The hub’s exclusive manufacturing system allows for the creation of a spoke seat that is perfectly aligned with the tension line. Thanks to this solution, the same tension values are maintained at every point along the spoke, reducing stress on the rim and spokes. Fulcrum hubs can be adapted to all standard mounting dimensions
Fulcrum Speed DB spokes:
The number of high-tensile spokes has been adapted for use with disc brakes. 21 spokes on both the rear and front wheels provide sufficient stability.
Fulcrum Speed DB rims
The wide and lightweight 2 Way Fit rim with a 23 mm rim width is tubeless ready. The Speed Disc rims are specially designed for use with disc brakes. The rim bed without drill holes ensures lower weight, longer rim durability, greater fatigue resistance, the possibility of further spoke tensioning and greater stiffness. Fulcrum® Full Carbon rims are manufactured using laboratory-developed combinations of different fibre types, including unidirectional and the well-known 90-degree 3K, which defines the models at the top of our product range.
A special HTG (High Transition Grade) resin has been developed for rim production, which exhibits a glass transition temperature at higher temperatures than any other fibre used in the cycling industry. This enables unrivalled braking performance.
Cone & Cup USB Ceramic Ball Bearings:
Fulcrum and Campagnolo rely on classic ball bearings with ball rings, cones and bearing cups for their high-quality wheelsets. These continue to offer the best smooth-running properties. The classic deep-groove ball bearings are easy to adjust, clean and maintain.
The USB (Ultra Smooth Bearings) ceramic deep-groove ball bearings guarantee extremely smooth running. Absolutely smooth surfaces and lower friction, to minimise energy loss as much as possible, are the most interesting features.
