Chris King DropSet 3 Headset

The Chris King DropSet 3 Tapered Headset with IS41 top cup and IS52 bottom cup for frames with a 41 mm top bearing seat and a 52 mm bottom bearing seat on the head tube, and forks with a tapered steerer tube diameter of 1 1/8 inch / 28.6 mm at the top and 1.5 inches / 40 mm at the bottom.

Please note that the integrated bearing race requires different bearing angles depending on the frame manufacturer. The DropSet 2 has a bearing angle of 45x45 degrees at the top and 36x45 degrees at the bottom. If in doubt, please check with the frame manufacturer to ensure this headset is compatible with your frame.

The headset has been developed for tough cycling use and also looks great on a road bike. The cap covers are made from aluminium and CNC-machined; the bearings are made from stainless steel, feature multiple seals and are so well-made that Chris King offers a 10-year warranty on all headsets. IS, Integrated Standard fully integrated headsets:

The headsets with Integrated Standard (IS) require frames that incorporate the raceway for the headset bearings. Hence the name ‘fully integrated’. The headset then consists of the bearings inserted into the head tube of the frame, plus the fork cone and upper bearing cover with cap and claw.

IS bearing installation dimensions 41-28.6 mm:

Bearing installation dimensions IS 52-40 mm:

lower frame mount 52 mm diameter, height 1 mm, bearing angle 45x45 degrees, lower steerer tube diameter 40 mm, tapered 1.5 inches. The tapered seat is 40 mm.
