TE Team Edition Handmade, hookless-compatible TLR clincher with sealed Corespun cotton casing
- Handmade tyres combine a variety of outstanding features to offer maximum comfort and minimal rolling resistance. Carefully selected materials are used in the various tyre grades depending on performance requirements for specific uses. Soft, supple casings quickly adapt to the shape of the ground when rolling and cornering. This increases ground contact and grip and improves shock absorption on rough surfaces. Soft, natural rubber treads are combined with lightweight, flexible puncture protection.
- Corespun cotton casings are used for tyres in the Servizio Corse and Team Edition Series. Cotton is – just like your favourite shirt – naturally softer and more supple than a cheap polyester shirt and requires more careful handling. If not washed and dried properly, cotton is more prone to absorbing water, stains, mould and rot than more durable polyester or more expensive silk. That is why cotton benefits greatly from the Challenge casing sealant. It makes cotton the ideal casing material for professional athletes, as it offers an ideal balance of price and performance.
Handcrafted natural rubber – New SMARTPRIME hardness
- Challenge’s handcrafted natural rubber treads are formulated to offer the perfect level of durability without compromising on performance, comfort and control. Although Challenge tyres wear out 10–20 per cent faster than the competition’s, they score highly with significantly improved performance and a noticeably better riding experience throughout their entire lifespan. Depending on requirements, the tyres are fitted with rubber compounds of varying softness.
- The new Smartprime compound increases grip on both dry and wet roads, significantly reduces rolling resistance, and is both flexible and shock-absorbing – thereby taking the tyre’s safety and performance to a whole new level! The Smartprime compound excels in extreme conditions where other materials fail – as it is able to maintain its properties continuously even under heavy loads. Smartprime undoubtedly makes the Criterium RS a superb Ultimate Performance tyre for the World Tour!
Ganzo Puncture Protection System PPS GANZO
- The Ganzo Puncture Protection System is a highly flexible, even more tightly woven multi-component puncture protection layer integrated between the tread and the carcass. The PPS GANZO makes the tyre even lighter and more puncture-resistant, whilst preserving the supple, comfortable character of Challenge tyres.
Protective strip
- The Criterium RS is equipped with a protective strip that increases the tyre’s durability by reducing the effects of chafing or rubbing against the rim. Furthermore, the contrasting black colour of the protective strip serves as a precise way to check that the tyre is seated evenly on the rim.
Zylon bead
- The reinforced, non-stretch Zylon beads ensure significantly improved load-bearing capacity.
Hookless-compatible
- The Criterium RS can be used with hookless rims.
Challenge tyres comply with existing ETRTO and ISO standards.
