A golden summer’s day is drawing to a close. You glide towards the darkness, feeling as free as the wind. The sun sinks below the horizon, but the magic of the day is still in the air, and you simply want to keep riding. As if by magic, the light on your bike comes on, showing you new paths to places you’ve never been before. How? Your new wheels feature a hub dynamo that converts your energy into electric light with every turn of the pedals. With this self-sufficient system, nothing stands in the way of new adventures.
DT Swiss 305 PL-7 hub dynamo:
The hub dynamo generates electricity through the rotation of the front wheel to power your bike’s lights and other electrical devices. Although this increases resistance, you’ll hardly notice it whilst riding thanks to the design of the hub housing and the efficiency of the SP PL-7 dynamo. Efficiency was measured with the lights on and off.
With the lights off or when no power is being consumed, the resistance caused by the front hub dynamo increases only minimally and is less than 1 watt (W) at speeds up to 30 km/h. This slight increase is barely noticeable whilst riding. When the lights are on, the resistance increases as the generator produces electricity. Our hub dynamo with SP PL-7 generator uses one of the most efficient technologies available. At 15 km/h, it produces a standard output of 6 volts/3 watts (6V3W). 4.2 watts of your rolling power are used for the lights.
DT Swiss GR 1600 Disc rim:
The wide rim with a 24 mm rim width allows the fitting of tyres up to 53 mm wide. The high-quality rim is extremely sturdy, weighs just 535 grams and is equivalent to the DT Swiss GR 351 rim. The Hooked / Crotchet tubeless TC rim profile also keeps wide gravel tyres securely on the rim. The rims are supplied with tubeless rim tape already fitted.
Hooked / Crotchet tubeless TC:
‘Hooked’ or ‘Crotchet’ refers to the shape of the rim flange, which features a so-called hook. This supports the tyre bead and ensures secure performance, even when using high tyre pressure (> 5 bar). ‘Tubeless’ means that the rim can be ridden without an inner tube, although a setup with an inner tube is also possible.
DT Swiss Straight Pull Spokes
To achieve an ideal balance between weight and stability, only the highest quality straight pull spokes are used in SPLINE wheelsets. They are more stable than conventional spokes yet can still be trued and replaced using standard tools.
