DT Swiss HX 1700 SPLINE - ALL FUN, NO FUSS:
Thanks to proven technology and specifically designed components, the new HX 1700 SPLINE wheelset is the ideal partner for demanding eMTB tours. The newly designed, larger 350 Hybrid hub, combined with its upgraded steel freehub body, reinforced hybrid spokes and welded aluminium rim, ensures maximum robustness. At the same time, DF technology virtually eliminates pedal kickback, thereby delivering significantly improved braking and drive torque: for anyone looking to take their eMTB adventures to the next level!
In recent years, the e-bike segment has evolved in parallel with the development of more powerful motors. A new, reinforced aluminium wheelset is now available and can withstand the increased power and higher weight of e-bikes. Under certain conditions, however, some of our non-hybrid-specific wheels can also be used on your e-bike.
Featuring reinforced rims, more durable bearings and steel freehub bodies. The DT Swiss H X1700 Spline Hybrid, with a 30 mm flange width, oversized ball bearings, a new high-load axle, 24-tooth spline, steel freehub body and reinforced hub shell, is designed for significantly higher torque and offers 20 per cent greater load capacity than standard wheels. The legendary reliability of DT Swiss hubs and straight-pull lacing ensure long-lasting riding enjoyment
eMTBs are designed to ride up and down mountains quickly and have fun doing so. The new HX 1700 SPLINE high-end aluminium wheelset is the ideal partner for this. Building on many years of experience in the development of eMTB components and targeted testing procedures, DT Swiss has redesigned this wheelset to meet the increased demands of modern e-mountain biking. The redesigned 350 hub features a larger hub body, which enables better braking and drive torque and results in greater robustness. The new hub is now combined with a high-quality welded aluminium rim and reinforced hybrid spokes. This wheel is available in two spoke patterns and two wheel sizes, making it suitable for all riders looking to expand their eMTB adventure.
DT Swiss HX 1700 Spline Hybrid DEG Hubs:
Based on the DT Swiss 350 series hubs, the DT Swiss straight-pull hub bodies of the Hybrid Spline wheels feature reinforced hub bodies, oversized ball bearings and reinforced spoke heads. The new design of the 350 hub features the familiar ratchet freehub and is characterised by a larger hub body, which better absorbs high braking and drive torques, resulting in a longer service life. With the optimised hub body, specifically designed for high torque and extreme braking forces, and the reinforced flange, DT Swiss provides the perfect foundation for extremely stable e-bike and enduro/DH wheelsets.
DT Swiss Degrees Freedom, DF technology against pedal kickback
The new Degrees Freedom technology against pedal kickback is extremely simple in design. DF technology neutralises pedal kickback at the point where it occurs: in the hub’s freewheel. This prevents unwanted chain pull during suspension compression before it reaches the crankset via the chain and negatively affects the rider. The result is a natural downhill riding experience with authentic feedback from the trail and bike, free from the influence of unwanted chain pull. Extremely simple system against pedal kickback
Easy to adjust, low-maintenance and lightweight: the new DF technology offers additional degrees of freedom, allowing you to fine-tune your bike’s characteristics in even greater detail. The freewheel system rotates up to a certain point before engaging. This reduces the effect of the chain on the rear suspension, allowing the suspension to operate more freely. With this system, you can find the right setup for different terrains or bikes without any tools. And if you want to optimise your bike’s kinematics, you have another degree of freedom at your disposal. *Degrees of freedom: the number of values that can vary freely in the final result of a statistical calculation.
In suspension systems that must withstand many successive impacts without creating tension on the chain, an additional movement is required that does not affect the chain tension and quickly cancels itself out. No additional components are required to reset the DF system. Simply the rotation of the wheel during freewheeling and the tension exerted by the spring pressure on the sprockets pulls the DF system backwards into reset or disengage mode. As soon as the chain moves forwards due to pedalling or tension caused by the frame suspension, the DF system can move forwards by a certain amount without any power being transmitted. This minimises pedal kickback caused by the frame suspension. At 0°, the quick-responding hub functions as usual. Once the desired degree of freedom has been set and during freewheeling, the system counteracts pedal kickback.
Compatible with Ratchet DEG The new DF technology is a highly simplified anti-pedal kickback system. It is available as a specific upgrade kit and can be retrofitted to all Ratchet DEG freewheel systems. It is lighter than other solutions, as you only need to replace the hub’s threaded ring and the two toothed discs to enjoy three different options for the freewheel’s range of motion: 0°, 10° and 20°.
Boost Standard:
The Boost standard requires new hubs. The wider hub shell with the flanges positioned further out allows for wheels with greater lateral stiffness. On Boost hubs, the brake disc mount is also positioned further out. Consequently, these hubs cannot be fitted to frames with a narrower mounting dimension.
DT Swiss Ratchet DEG steel freehub body:
The DT Swiss Ratchet DEG system is a reinforced version featuring 60-tooth gearing and stronger ratchet discs. The multi-tooth ratchet body ensures loss-free power transmission. Thanks to the ‘No Tool’ concept of DT Swiss rear hubs, these can be serviced and converted without tools. The freehub bodies are available as HG10 for Shimano and Sram 8-10-speed and Shimano 11-speed MTB cassettes, Sram XD for Sram MTB 12 XD cassettes, and Shimano Microspline for Micro Spline 12-speed MTB cassettes.
DT Swiss H 1700 Spline Hybrid rims:
Built for tough e-bike, freeride and enduro use, the DT Swiss H 1700 rims, with a width of 30 mm and the new asymmetrical design, offer maximum stability; the rim bed is further reinforced to easily absorb high drive forces. With a 30 mm rim width, tyres ranging from 2.0 to 3.0 inches in width can be fitted.
Hooked / Crotchet tubeless TC:
‘Hooked’ or ‘Crotchet’ refers to the shape of the rim flange, which features a so-called hook. This aids in securing the tyre bead and ensures reliable performance, even when using high tyre pressure (> 5 bar). ‘Tubeless’ means that the rim can be ridden without an inner tube, although a setup with an inner tube is also possible.
DT Swiss Straightpull Hybrid2 spokes:
To achieve maximum stability, Spline wheelsets use DT Hybrid 2 straight-pull spokes. They are more stable than conventional spokes yet can still be trued and replaced using standard tools. The straight-pull lacing allows for precise placement and alignment of the spokes. This optimises wheel stiffness and eliminates any unwanted stress peaks.
