Mountain Bike | DT Swiss 240 EXP Classic - XM 401 Wheelset

The All Mountain wheelset featuring DT Swiss high-end 240 EXP hubs and lightweight XM 401 rims. Hand-built in our specialist workshop. You can configure this wheelset entirely to your own specifications. The XM 401 DT rims, with a 22.5 mm rim width and weighing just 430 grams, provide the perfect basis for fast and stable All Mountain wheels.

We offer this wheelset with hubs for quick-release and thru-axle mounting, including Boost and Super Boost.

Wheel building at TNC-Hamburg:

We hand-build these wheels exclusively for you. Thanks to over 30 years’ experience in wheel building, we extract the optimum in roundness, durability and stiffness from the materials. These wheels are, of course, pressure-tested multiple times, and we also pre-load the spokes in the longitudinal direction. This eliminates the need for re-truing over a long period of time.

These wheels are made especially for you, which is why we cannot offer a right of return for them.

DT Swiss 240 EXP hubs:

With the DT Swiss 240 EXP hubs, minimal weight combined with exceptional durability is something of a rarity, particularly in hub construction. The new axle system, with 15 per cent more support width, increases hub stiffness. The ‘EXP’ in the DT Swiss 240 EXP hubs refers to the integration of the gear ring and threaded ring within the hub body. This reduces the number of components and thus lowers the weight. A single coil spring ensures faster, complete engagement and therefore greater reliability. The complete interlocking of the gear rings creates a large contact surface and thus low point loads, resulting in superior reliability. The stainless steel ball bearings have proven to be extremely reliable and durable since the introduction of the 240 hubs. The patented freehub body works with interlocking ratchet discs. This guarantees loss-free power transmission. Straightpull refers to straight, non-offset spokes. Thanks to this technology, it is possible to achieve an ideal balance between weight and stability.

DT Swiss Star Ratchet EXP System:

The tried-and-tested DT Swiss Star Ratchet System, in its new EXP version with the toothed disc freehub body, allows for easy conversion to various rotor standards.

DT Swiss XM 401 Rim:

The lightweight 27 mm wide cross-country and all-mountain rim from DT Swiss with a 22.5 mm rim width. Thanks to extensive FEM analyses, DT Swiss XM 401 rims feature material only where it is actually needed. These rims are laced with DT Squorx Pro Head nipples and must only be laced with these nipples. With the wide XM 401 rim, DT Swiss offers a rim for stable and lightweight All Mountain wheelsets. Cleanly finished, with a welded rim flange and stainless steel eyelets, the DT Swiss XM 401 strikes the perfect balance between low weight and high stability.

DT Swiss tubeless-ready rims:

The new generation of DT Swiss rims, with an excellent stiffness-to-weight ratio and a new rim design. These rims are supplied with DT Squorx Pro Head nipples and must only be laced using these nipples and washers. The DT Swiss rims are equipped with specially adapted rim flanges for tubeless tape and can be easily upgraded to lightweight tubeless rims using DT Swiss tubeless tape. The tubeless tape is not included.
