Fulcrum Speed 25+:
The ‘Plus’ world hits the road: with the Speed 25+, Fulcrum redefines the combination of precision and lightness. Following the Red Zone Carbon+, the Speed 25 road wheelset now also bears the ‘Plus’ designation, marking the pinnacle of the Fulcrum product range: These are the lightest disc brake wheels with a low rim profile ever produced. Inspired by the Racing Light XLR, the Speed 25+ are the perfect choice for steep alpine terrain as well as long distances, thanks to their safe and precise ride feel – a sensation only wheels with such a low rim profile can offer. Compared to the Speed 25, the weight of the Speed 25+ has been reduced to 1270 grams. To create a wheelset that delivers outstanding lightness and handling without compromising on reliability (ASTM 1 – system weight limit: 120 kg), our developers have integrated Fulcrum’s most innovative technologies into the Speed 25+.
Developed with a clear goal: maximum performance on climbs. The new Speed 25 from Fulcrum combines lightness and handling in a wheel with a low-profile rim. Thanks to Fulcrum’s leading technologies, it is perfect for conquering summits and enjoying descents.
The inspiration for the development of the new Speed 25 was the race-proven Racing Light XLR – an extremely successful and popular wheel among both recreational cyclists and professionals who use it on mountain stages. The new Speed 25 features a 26 mm rim profile, which is symmetrical on the front wheel and asymmetrical on the rear, striking the perfect balance between lightness and aerodynamics.
Weighing just 1,270 grams, the Speed 25 Plus is the ideal wheel for cyclists aiming to set best times on climbs, but also for ultra-cyclists who have to cope with adverse weather conditions and need a stable and reliable wheel even in strong gusts. The Speed 25 was developed as a disc wheel with an internal rim width of 21 millimetres and features Fulcrum’s patented MoMag and DIMF (Direct In-mould Matt Finish) technologies. The minimalist hubs utilise USB ceramic bearings. The key characteristics of the Speed 25 are its light weight, superb handling and smooth, quiet running.
An incomparable feeling unites professionals and amateurs: the rising heartbeat before the start of a race, the energy flowing through the veins, and the urge to push oneself ever further. The new Fulcrum Speed Team was created to celebrate the spirit of competition and the adrenaline of racing – this has always been the soul of Fulcrum. The new Speed Team wheels are an evolution of the Speed 42, retaining its technical specifications – with one key difference: a lighter freehub body featuring USB (Ultra Smooth Bearings) ceramic bearings. This race-ready solution enhances smoothness and efficiency, whilst eliminating friction and guaranteeing a unique riding experience.
Fulcrum Speed DB Disc Hubs:
The new Fulcrum Disc hubs. The aluminium rotor saves weight. The adjustable ball bearing system with USB ceramic bearings reduces friction and ensures long-lasting, consistent top performance. Simple and quick adjustment. Aluminium axles reduce the weight of the wheel. The hub’s exclusive manufacturing process creates a spoke seat that is perfectly aligned with the tension line. Thanks to this solution, the same tension values are maintained at every point along the spoke, reducing stress on the rim and spokes. Fulcrum hubs can be converted to fit all standard mounting dimensions
Fulcrum Speed DB spokes:
The number of high-tensile spokes has been adapted for use with disc brakes. 21 spokes on both the rear and front wheels provide sufficient stability.
Fulcrum Speed DB rims
The wide and lightweight 2 Way Fit rim with a 23 mm rim width is tubeless ready. The Speed Disc rims are specially designed for use with disc brakes. The rim bed without drill holes ensures lower weight, longer rim durability, greater fatigue resistance, the possibility of further spoke tensioning and greater stiffness. Fulcrum® Full Carbon rims are manufactured using laboratory-developed combinations of different fibre types, including unidirectional and the well-known 90-degree 3K, which defines the models at the top of our product range.
A special HTG (High Transition Grade) resin has been developed for rim production, which exhibits a glass transition temperature at higher temperatures than any other fibre used in the cycling industry. This enables unrivalled braking performance.
Cone & Cup Cult Ceramic Ball Bearings:
Fulcrum and Campagnolo rely on classic ball bearings with ball rings, cones and bearing cups for their high-quality wheelsets. These continue to offer the best smooth-running properties. The classic deep-groove ball bearings are easy to adjust, clean and maintain.
Fulcrum CULT Ceramic Ball Bearings: These bearings are based on the exclusive Cronitect® steel, developed using the Schäffler Group’s “Advanced by FAG” technology, which is used for the ball raceways of the bearings. This steel requires no grease for lubrication, only a thin layer of oil. As the high-quality ceramic balls require no grease and the bearings are manufactured with extreme precision, they enable a drastic reduction in the coefficient of friction and consequently increase the smoothness of the wheel by a factor of nine compared to standard versions. An extraordinary result achieved thanks to the application of the most advanced technologies in the field of materials processing.
