The aluminium core is encased by the steel braking surface. This reduces heat build-up by a good 25 per cent and increases the stability of Shimano MTB disc brakes. The redesigned Ice Tech Freeza brake discs at Deore, GRX and Ultegra levels, RT-CL800, have been engineered to ensure maximum heat dissipation, resulting in more consistent braking performance and longer pad life.
