Magura MT8 SL Disc Brake Set

The new Magura MT8 SL brakes with HC 1-finger carbon levers. Manufactured from Carbotecture, the MT8 brakes are significantly lighter and even stronger than conventional disc brakes with aluminium levers. The minimalist brake caliper offers excellent heat dissipation. Aluminium brake lever and handlebar clamp are very lightweight. The brake lever can be mounted on either the right or left side; the cable length is always 220 cm

Magura’s top-of-the-range model, the MT8 SL Disc, achieves the perfect balance between weight and stability through the consistent use of the finest materials and extensive use of finite element analysis. The carbon caliper and carbon lever are manufactured using the innovative Carbolay process, offering high strength with minimal weight.

Magura MT 8 brake lever:

The MT8 HC1 brake levers can be mounted on either the right or left side

• Magura HC 1 brake lever: the short version of the brake lever offers a particularly crisp bite point. The bite point is adjusted using Torque
• Magura Carbotecture SL: A material newly developed by Magura, consisting of a high proportion of carbon fibres embedded in a thermoplastic matrix. More powerful, more tensile, more flexible and more fracture-resistant than conventional fibre-reinforced plastics or laminated carbon fibre mats. Ideally suited for processing in the Carboflow process.
• Magura Carboflow: A process newly developed by Magura that allows carbon fibres to be optimally aligned with the direction of stress. Produces homogeneous, predictable surfaces. Significant weight savings are possible, as there is no need for oversizing.
• Magura Carbolay: The fibres of the lever are stitched onto a carrier matrix before being coated with resin and cured.

Magura MT 8 brake caliper:

The Magura MT8 brake calipers are forged from a high-performance aluminium alloy and feature the new magnetiXchange brake pistons for easy pad replacement. The one-piece brake caliper offers maximum performance and safety even on long descents thanks to efficient heat dissipation via the large surface area and the open double-arch design.

• Magura MagneticXchange: the magnetic brake pistons make it easier to fit the brake pads
• Magura Anti-Squeal: The combination of a specially formulated brake pad compound and brake disc design counteracts noise during braking.
• Magura Anti-Drag: Newly developed sealing rings and an adapted piston design ensure that, even when used in sub-zero temperatures or extremely muddy conditions, the pistons always return to their original position and do not rub against the disc.
• Magura Anti-Heat: The entire MT brake caliper system is designed to dissipate heat quickly into the surrounding environment, preventing a drop in performance.
• Magura RHR: The new Magura brakes, MT8, MT6 and MT4, come factory-fitted with a swivelling hose outlet on the spoke side to prevent damage and allow for neat hose routing on various frame designs.

Post Mount Caliper Standard:

The Post Mount caliper standard was developed for MTB disc brakes. The bolt spacing for mounting the calipers is 74 mm. This is why the standard is also known as Post Mount 74. These calipers can be mounted directly depending on the frame/fork mount and disc size. For larger discs and/or IS2000 mounts, an adapter is required. You will find these adapters and mount types listed below.

Magura Royal Blood:

Magura continues to rely on high-performance mineral oil as the brake fluid. It is completely harmless to health in the event of skin contact and, as it does not absorb water over time like DOT fluid, bleeding intervals are significantly longer. For optimal performance, bleeding is required every 6–12 months, depending on frequency of use.

Magura MDR-C CL brake disc:

High stability, heat resistance and low wear are ensured by a special steel alloy and the more robust construction. The thickness of the Magura Storm discs, at just 2 mm, ensures minimal pad wear and a silent ride with maximum stability

The Centerlock brake discs are available with different lockrings: for external mounting, the required tool is a Hollowtech II bottom bracket wrench (e.g. TL FC32); for internal mounting, the required tool is a cassette remover (e.g. TL LR10). The external lockring is required for thru-axle hubs with a thru-axle diameter of more than 12 mm, e.g. on current suspension forks. We supply the brake set with the external screw-on lockrings. If the internal version is required, please specify this in the comments field before completing your order.

2 x Magura MT8 SL HC1 disc brakes with 2200 mm lines, fully pre-assembled and bled, Magura MDR-C Centerlock brake discs, size selectable, optional adapters for disc size and mounting, Magura brake pads, screws and small parts required for assembly.

The MT8 SL Disc is supplied with Post Mount 6 brake calipers.

You can select the appropriate adapter for your fork and disc size.

IS 2000: Side mounting. An adapter is always required for fitting the Magura MT8; maximum 203 mm, minimum 160 mm on the fork and 140 mm disc size on the frame. Common on older suspension forks and almost all rear triangle frames

Post Mount, PM5: Direct mounting of the Magura MT8 with 140 mm brake discs without an adapter. Maximum 180 mm, minimum 140 mm disc size. Currently only found on rear triangle frames

Post Mount, PM6: Direct mounting of the Magura MT8 with 160 mm brake discs without an adapter. Maximum 203 mm, minimum 160 mm on the fork and 140 mm disc size on the frame. Currently the most common standard on forks, and on some rear triangle frames.

Post Mount, PM7: Direct mounting of the Magura MT8 with 180mm brake discs without an adapter. Maximum 203mm, minimum 180mm disc size. 140mm and 160mm disc sizes are not possible. Found on some enduro suspension forks such as the Magura Thor and on some rear triangle frames such as the Liteville 301.

Post Mount, PM8: Direct mounting without an adapter for the Magura MT8 with 203mm brake discs. Can only be used with 203mm brake discs. Found only on downhill suspension forks and frames
