In a complex process, the plates of the X-SL chains are milled out and riveted with hollow pins. This achieves a significant weight saving without compromising stability or service life. KMC chains feature a very slim design, known as ‘lean construction’. In addition to being lighter, this design offers exceptionally smooth running and fewer instances of the chain jamming. At just 6 mm wide, the 10-speed chains are among the narrowest in their class and are forgiving even if the rear derailleur is no longer adjusted 100 per cent precisely. X-SP stands for ‘extra stretch proof’, a process in which all parts of the chain are specially hardened. This treatment makes the pins, in particular, highly resistant to dust and sand, thereby extending the service life enormously.

KMC Missing Link:

The chain connectors, known as Missing Links, allow for simple and secure chain assembly. A standard chain tool is required to shorten KMC chains to the correct length. The 10-speed Missing Links cannot be reused a second time.
