KMC X12 Black Tech Chain

KMC chains feature a very slim design, known as ‘lean construction’. In addition to being lighter in weight, this design offers exceptionally smooth running and fewer instances of the chain jamming. The Double X-Durability treatment is a process in which all parts of the chain are specially hardened. This treatment makes the pins, in particular, highly resistant to dust and sand and significantly extends the chain’s service life. They are extremely lightweight, highly durable and very easy to fit with the MissingLink 12.

KMC BlackTech technology is not a simple coating, but a surface treatment in which the colour becomes an integral part of the material. The process is two-stage – first, every single chain component is treated, and then the process is repeated with the assembled elements. As a result, the chain retains its deep black colour permanently and is also highly rust-resistant.

The second generation of KMC 12-speed chains has been thoroughly revised, taking into account all market developments, to ensure that the X12, e12 and DLC12 chains remain compatible with the gear systems from SRAM, Shimano, Campagnolo and other manufacturers. Due to the rapid development in the e-bike segment, we have fitted the DLC12 chains with reinforced pins to ensure they are approved for use on electric bikes.

The chain locks (missing links) on the 12-speed chains allow for easy and secure installation. A standard chain tool is required to cut the KMC chains to the correct length. The new 12-speed missing links are not reusable.
