Shimano Ultegra FC-R8100 Powermeter

With the FC-R8100-P power meter crankset, Shimano offers an extremely high-performance power meter in its 12-speed Ultegra series. The Ultegra FC-R8100-P power meter crankset offers the full range of functions and the same precision as its Dura-Ace counterpart, but at a more attractive price. Thanks to active temperature compensation via Shimano’s proprietary strain gauges, dual-side power measurement and an accuracy of ±2.0 per cent, the power meter reliably transmits data to ANT+/Bluetooth® LE display devices.

Training under scientific conditions requires precise measurements, but also user-friendliness. The new ULTEGRA R8100 power metre crankset excels in both respects. Dual-side measurement is accurate to within 2.0 per cent, and zero-point calibration can be carried out quickly and easily. Perhaps most importantly, however, is the battery life, the ease of charging, and the ANT+ and Bluetooth® LE connectivity, which make recording and utilising training data easier than ever before.

Shimano Ultegra Power Meter Technology:

The newly developed power meter crankset from the Ultegra R8100 series with power measurement on both sides. The power meter’s central unit is compactly positioned behind the crank spindle, and the strain gauges are integrated into the left and right crank arms. Thanks to the battery integrated into the axle, the Bluetooth interface and the ability to update the power meter’s firmware via the E-Tube platform. The ANT+ and Bluetooth® LE interface is compatible with many cycle computers.

Shimano Ultegra R8100 crank arms

Hollow-forged chainrings, thin-walled hollow-forged crank arms and a reduction in the outer surface area reduce the weight of the new Shimano Dura-Ace FCR 9100 crankset to 609 grams. The design of the 2x11-speed Hollowtech II crankset not only boasts a look and aesthetic with cult potential, but also ensures enhanced performance. A wider, yet lighter than its predecessor, crank arm and the large chainrings with Hollowglide technology increase stiffness and optimise power transfer to the pedal.

Compatible bottom bracket shells

There is now a wide variety of bottom bracket shells available on modern frames. Shimano only offers compatible bottom brackets for some of these. The Wheels Outboard bottom brackets are significantly more durable than standard press-fit bottom brackets, as the cups are bolted together, ensuring they sit flat and securely within the frame. The Wheels bottom brackets are available with different bearing grades: ABEC3 standard bearings, angular contact bearings and ceramic bearings.
