FSA BB30 Bottom Bracket Adapter

This FSA BB30 adapter allows the FSA K-Force Light and FSA SL-K Carbon MegaExo road bike cranksets to be fitted to frames with a BB30 bottom bracket shell. The BB30 adapter is fitted in place of the MegaExo bottom bracket. < /p> Manufactured to extremely precise tolerances of 10 millionths of an inch per ball, the FSA MegaExo Ceramic bottom brackets offer perfect smoothness and durability.

One of the most outstanding features of the ceramic balls in the new ball bearings is their incredible geometric roundness; furthermore, the extremely smooth surface guarantees optimal rolling performance and a precise fit. It goes without saying that the mechanical tolerance of a ceramic ball bearing set, whether 12- or 15-piece, averages just 10 millionths of an inch (0.00025 mm), but record values of less than 1 millionth of an inch are even achieved. For comparable steel ball bearings, the tolerance is approximately 50/60 millionths of an inch, 0.0012/0.0015 mm. For this reason, ceramic ball bearings normally fall under the ABEC 9 category (Annular Bearing Engineering Council), the highest international quality standard for ball bearings.

The significantly lower density compared to steel – a 60 per cent weight saving – and thermal expansion of just 25 per cent, combined with the excellent surface finish, the absence of oxidation and, above all, stability under heavy loads, contribute significantly to the longevity of the ball bearings. The upgrade kit includes a special lubricant in a handy syringe, maintenance instructions and stickers for the chainstays on the frame.
