Shimano relies on tried-and-tested gear ratios with large sprockets and chainrings for the new Dura-Ace 12-speed drivetrain. The advantages include a large chain wrap angle, which guarantees quiet and highly efficient power transmission and allows for finely graduated cassettes. The new 12-speed cassettes are also compatible with the old HG11 freehub bodies.

The new Di2 platform for the 12-speed components requires no cable connection to the rear derailleur and front derailleurs. The Di2 Dual Control shift levers ST R9270 have the necessary wireless module integrated. Power is supplied by CR1632 batteries, which have a service life of up to 2 years. The Di2 12-speed rear derailleur, with its additional wireless unit, acts as a receiver and distributor of shift signals and is connected to the battery and front derailleur for power supply and shift command transmission. Additional wireless components, including those from third-party manufacturers, can also be paired with the rear derailleur.

Hollow-forged chainrings made of aluminium and carbon fibre-reinforced plastic, thin-walled hollow-forged crank arms and a reduction in the outer surface area reduce the weight of the new Dura Ace 12-speed FCR 9200 crankset. The design of the 2x11-speed Hollowtech II crankset ensures enhanced performance. As a key component in Shimano’s new 12-speed Dura-Ace series, the FC-R9200 crankset is characterised by Shimano’s signature shifting quality and power transfer efficiency. Revised for seamless 12-speed shifting, the Dura Ace crankset is available in lengths from 160 to 177.5 mm. This means greater performance and improved customisation options for smaller riders, triathletes and riders with specific biomechanical requirements.
