Wheels Manufacturing Outboard Bottom Bracket
The bolted outboard bottom brackets from Wheels Manufacturing allow Sram and Truvativ GXP MTB and road cranksets with a 24/22 mm axle to be fitted to frames with BB86, BB92 and Trek Pressfit 90 bottom bracket shells with a width of 86–92 mm and a press-fit depth of 41 mm.
BB86 bottom bracket shells:
BB86 bottom bracket shells have a width of 86 mm and a press-fit depth of 41 mm. These bottom brackets are only compatible with road bike cranksets. These bottom brackets are press-fit.
BB92 bottom bracket shells:
BB92 bottom bracket shells have a width of 89 to 92 mm and a press-fit depth of 41 mm. These bottom brackets are only compatible with MTB cranksets. Not compatible with MTB cranksets for 83 and 100 mm installation widths. These bottom brackets are press-fitted.
Pressfit 90 Trek bottom bracket shells:
The Pressfit 90 bottom bracket shells on Trek frames have a width of 90 mm and a press-fit dimension for the bottom bracket of 41 mm. These bottom brackets are press-fitted. With Wheels or Cane Creek bottom brackets, the bottom bracket cups are screwed together and thus pulled into the bottom bracket shell. This is the significantly more durable method of installation, as the bearings are additionally secured by the bottom bracket cups.
Sram GXP crank axle:
The Sram GXP crankset system with different axle diameters. The outer diameter of the axle on the drive side is 24 mm and 22 mm on the left side. GXP-compatible bottom brackets are required for this.
Wheels Threaded Outboard:
Unlike other press-fit bottom brackets, the Wheels Manufacturing outboard bearing cups are screwed together. This has the major advantage that the bottom bracket shell sits very firmly and absolutely parallel within the frame. This means you can continue to use or even salvage frames with slightly worn-out bottom bracket shells. This ensures a long service life for both the bottom bracket and the frame. The bottom bracket cups are made from high-strength aluminium.
Wheels Zero Ceramic Angular Contact Ball Bearings:
The Zero Ceramic Enduro bearings feature high-end Type 3 ceramic balls with stainless steel bearing cups. These ceramic balls are the roundest available for civilian use. The bearing cups are made from pure silicon nitride material with extremely high density and a uniform surface. They also weigh 60 per cent less and are seven times harder than steel balls. Angular contact ball bearings have raceways in the inner and outer rings that are offset relative to the bearing axis. They are designed for bearings that must withstand combined loads, i.e. simultaneous radial and axial loads.

Wheels Outboard bottom bracket compatibility:
Compatible with SRAM GXP cranksets with a 24 mm axle, reduced to 22 mm on the non-drive side, MTB and road bike. A Hollowtech II / GXP compatible bottom bracket tool is required for installation, such as the TL-FC32 or TL-FC33
