Wheels Manufacturing Outboard Bottom Bracket

These outboard bottom brackets from Wheels Manufacturing allow MTB and road cranks with a 30 mm axle to be fitted to frames with BSA bottom bracket shells with a width of 68/73 mm, e.g. Cane Creek eeWings, FSA BB386Evo, BB386Evo, Rotor 3D+, Race Face Cinch 30, e*thirteen cranks. Not compatible with standard BB30 cranksets.

Wheels Enduro ABEC-5 angular contact ball bearings:

The Wheels Enduro ABEC-5 angular contact ball bearings are specially designed for use in hubs and bottom brackets. Whereas in standard radial bearings only 3 or 4 balls are loaded simultaneously, in angular contact bearings all balls are loaded evenly. This is why this type of bearing is also known as a full-contact bearing. This distributes the applied force across the entire bearing, reducing friction and wear. The balls in these bearings are manufactured to extremely high precision, with a tolerance of just 10/1,000,000 – twice as precise as standard industrial bearings. Fitted with double silicone seals, double lip seals and heavy-duty grease, these bearings guarantee excellent durability.

BSA threaded bottom bracket shells

The BSA bottom bracket shells have a width of 68–73 mm and a thread of 1.370 × 24 TPI, with an outer diameter of 33.6–33.9 mm, into which the bearing cups are screwed. Both bearing cups are screwed in the direction of travel. Adjustment to the different shell widths is achieved using the shims included in the delivery.

30 mm crank axles:

Cranks with a solid 30 mm axle are offered by various manufacturers, e.g. the Cane Creek eeWings, FSA BB386EVO, e*thriteen, Race Face Cinch 30, Sram EVO 86 and Rotor 30 models. These crank axles are longer than those of BB30 cranks. A minimum axle length of 104 mm is required with a 68 mm bottom bracket shell width. Not compatible with BB30 cranks.
