Shimano BB86 Bottom Bracket

The Shimano BB86 Pressfit bottom bracket at Ultegra level. The new bottom bracket design is characterised above all by its low weight, low Q-factor and greater ankle clearance. Furthermore, it is easy and safe to install and guarantees a longer service life thanks to the larger bearing diameters.

The Pressfit 86 bearing cups for bottom bracket shells measuring 86.5 x 41 mm can only be installed on frames with the designated oversize bottom bracket shells compliant with the Pressfit standard. All Shimano road bike cranksets with an integrated 24 mm bearing axle (Hollowtech II standard) can be used.

BB86 bottom bracket shells:

The BB86 bottom bracket shells have a width of 86 mm and a press-fit dimension for the bottom bracket of 41 mm. These bottom brackets are only compatible with road bike cranksets. These bottom brackets are press-fitted.

Shimano Hollowtech II 24 mm crank axle – road bike:

The Shimano Hollowtech II crankset system features a solid 24 mm axle. The road bike cranks have an axle length of 110 mm. This axle system is also used on the FSA Megaexo road bike cranks. The respective bottom brackets are compatible with one another. Due to the shorter axle, the road bike cranks are only compatible with road bike and gravel frames.
