Wheels Manufacturing Outboard Threaded Bottom Bracket, Pressfit30, black, Enduro Angular Contact Bearings, for Sram GXP cranksets with 24/22 mm axles, press-fit dimensions 46 x 68–73 mm
Wheels Manufacturing Outboard Bottom Bracket
Wheels Manufacturing’s Outboard bottom brackets allow Sram MTB and road cranksets with a 24–22 mm GXP axle to be fitted into frames with PressFit30 bottom bracket shells featuring a 46 mm press-fit depth at 68 and 73 mm widths.
SRAM cranksets with the GXP axle system have a narrower axle diameter on the non-drive side than Shimano Hollowtech II cranksets. Therefore, these bottom brackets are only compatible with SRAM GXP cranksets
Unlike other press-fit bottom brackets, the Wheels Manufacturing outboard cup sets are bolted together. This has the major advantage that the bottom bracket shell sits very securely and absolutely parallel within the frame. This ensures a long service life for the bottom bracket. The bottom bracket cups are made from high-strength aluminium.
Wheels Enduro Angular Contact Ball Bearings:
The Wheels Enduro ABEC5 angular contact ball bearings are specially designed for use in hubs and bottom brackets. Whereas in standard radial bearings only 3 or 4 balls are loaded simultaneously, in angular contact ball bearings all balls are loaded evenly. This is why this type of bearing is also known as a full-contact bearing. This distributes the applied force across the entire bearing, reducing friction and wear. The balls in these bearings are manufactured with extreme precision, with a tolerance of just 10/1,000,000 – twice as precise as standard industrial bearings.
SRAM GXP crank axle:
The SRAM GXP crankset system features different axle diameters. The outer diameter of the axle on the drive side is 24 mm and 22 mm on the left side. GXP-compatible bottom brackets are required for this.
PressFit 30 / 68–73 bottom bracket shells:
Pressfit 30 bottom bracket shells have a width of 73 to 68 mm and a press-fit dimension for the bottom bracket of 46 mm. These bottom brackets are pressed in. With Wheels or Cane Creek bottom brackets, the bottom bracket cups are screwed together and thus pulled into the bottom bracket shell. This is the significantly more durable assembly, as the bearings are additionally secured by the bottom bracket cups.
