Shimano Deore XT FCM 8100 2 crankset, length 170 mm, Q-factor 172 mm, chainline 48 mm, 12x2-speed, 36/26-tooth gear ratio
Shimano XT Deore FC Crankset - M8100 - 2
The new Shimano XT 12-speed components, designed for use ranging from cross-country to enduro. The XT components designated 8100 are designed for 1x12 and 1x12-speed drivetrains. The legendary durability and performance of XT MTB parts is now also available in 12-speed. The new Deore XT M8100 series boasts a host of technical highlights, including Shimano’s groundbreaking 12-speed Micro Spline cassettes, available with a range of 10-45T or 10-51T, 1x12- or 2x12-speed Hollowtech II cranksets, powerful two- and four-piston brakes, I-Spec EV shift levers, high-precision 12-speed rear derailleurs and front derailleurs, Ice Tech Frezza brake discs with their outstanding heat dissipation, as well as the WH-M8100 and WH-M8120 wheelsets for XC and enduro use.
Shimano XT FC-M8100 crankset
The new Deore XT 2x12-speed crankset features, among other things, Shimano’s world-renowned Holowtech II technology. With a 36-26-tooth range, combined with the 10-45 cassette, it offers the ultimate gear ratio range, guaranteeing maximum flexibility across the riding spectrum whilst maintaining small gear steps, which in turn ensure a consistent cadence. The 2x cranksets are available in Boost version FC-M8120-B2, 148 mm O.L.D., 51.8 mm chainline, 178 mm Q-factor, and Non-Boost version FC-M8100-2, 142 mm O.L.D., 48.8 mm chainline, 172 mm Q-factor.
Shimano Direct Mount chainring mount:
The new XT 2x12-speed cranksets now also feature Shimano’s Direct Mount chainring mount. This allows the chainrings to be easily swapped. The TL-FC41 tool is required for removing and fitting the chainring. The large aluminium chainring is fitted using the Direct Mount mount, and the small steel chainring is attached to the large chainring (which is designed for this purpose) using four bolts. The crank arms themselves are identical to the 1x12-speed version. A conversion from 2x12 to 1x12-speed is therefore possible. A conversion from Boost to a non-Boost chainline or vice versa is not possible, as the crank arms generate different chainlines.
