Bottom Bracket Wheels Manufacturing
These threaded bottom brackets from Wheels Manufacturing allow MTB and road cranks with 24 mm axles to be fitted to frames with BB386Evo and BB392EVO bottom bracket shells, with a width of 86–92 mm and a press-fit depth of 46 mm. These bottom brackets are compatible with Shimano Hollowtech II, FSA Megaexo and Race Face X-Type with a solid 24 mm axle.
Unlike other press-fit bottom brackets, the Wheels Manufacturing cups are bolted together. This has the major advantage that the bottom bracket shell sits very securely and absolutely parallel within the frame. This ensures a long service life for the bottom bracket. The bottom bracket cups are made from high-strength aluminium. For optimum durability, Wheels MFG manufactures its own bottom bracket cups for each bottom bracket shell, with the correct offset, even if the press-fit dimension is the same as for 386EVO, Pressfit 30 and BBright bottom brackets. This ensures that the bearings are positioned as far outwards as possible and the crank axle is supported as effectively as possible. Other manufacturers use spacers for the different installation widths, which is not quite as ideal.
Wheels Enduro ABEC3 ball bearings:
the Wheels Enduro ABEC3 ball bearings offer very high precision. The balls are twice as round as standard industrial bearings, with a roundness tolerance of 10 / 1,000,000. The ball material, 52100 high-carbon chromium alloy, is extremely robust and specially hardened. It is also polished to a high gloss.
Shimano Hollowtech II crank axle 24 mm / Road - MTB 68-73 mm:
The Shimano Hollowtech II crankset system features a solid 24 mm axle. The road bike cranks have an axle length of 110 mm, whilst the MTB cranks for 73 and 68 mm bottom bracket shells have an axle length of 120 mm. This axle system is also used in FSA Megaexo cranks and Race Face X-type cranks. The respective bottom brackets are compatible with one another.
BB386EVO bottom bracket shells:
The 386EVO bottom bracket shells have a width of 86.5 mm and a press-fit dimension for the bottom bracket of 46 mm. These bottom brackets are press-fitted. With Wheels or Cane Creek bottom brackets, the bearing sleeves are screwed together and thus pulled into the bottom bracket shell. This is the significantly more durable assembly method, as the bearings are additionally secured by the bearing sleeve.
BB392EVO bottom bracket shells:
The 392EVO bottom bracket shells have a width of 92 mm and a press-fit dimension for the bottom bracket of 46 mm. These bottom brackets are press-fitted. With Wheels or Cane Creek bottom brackets, the bottom bracket cups are screwed together and thus pulled into the bottom bracket shell. This is the significantly more durable assembly method, as the bearings are additionally secured by the bottom bracket cup.
