Shimano DI2 junction box

The junction box features a battery indicator and a setting function for the rear derailleur. The Di2 Cockpit Junction 5 Port accepts the cables from the shift levers and bundles them into a single cable leading to the battery. The right and left shift levers are connected to this port. In addition, EW-SD50 cables are required to connect the battery, rear derailleur and front derailleur.

The five inputs are used to connect the STIs to the SMJC40 junction box. As each Di2 STI shifter-brake lever can have 3 inputs of its own, a total of 8 additional shift buttons can be connected alongside the Di2 STI levers. This allows for the installation of a total of Di2 STI shift-brake levers, Di2 lower-bar shift buttons, Di1 upper-bar shift buttons and Di2 time trial shift levers or Di2 time trial brake-shift levers.
