Shimano Ultegra 12-speed Di2 R8150 / R8060 Time Trial Groupset
The Shimano Ultegra R8100 Di2 time trial and triathlon groupset for classic frames with rim brakes, featuring the ST-R80180 time trial shift-brake levers and, optionally, the Dura-Ace SW-R9160 handlebar-end shift levers
The 12-speed Di2 Ultegra time trial components use the 11-speed Di2 TT shift levers; these do not have a wireless interface and are connected via cable. To ensure they also function in 12-speed mode, all Di2 components must receive the latest firmware update. This can be done after installation using the Shimano app and a mobile phone, tablet, PC or SMPCE02B diagnostic device. We can also carry out this update for you as an optional service.

Shimano Di2 12-speed TT installation:
The TT Di2 shifters are connected to the SM-JC41 distribution box using the EW-JC130 Y-cable. From the SM-JC41 port, the EW-SD50 cable runs to the EW-AD305 connector. From the EW-AD305 distributor, the EW-SD300 cable then runs to the battery. Additionally, a power supply cable of 120 cm for the rear derailleur and 60 cm for the front derailleur is required.
Shimano Ultegra RD-R8150 Di2 rear derailleur
The new Ultegra rear derailleur is the centrepiece of the new 12-speed Di2 components. It provides the wireless function and connection to external components and also houses the charging port. Furthermore, the rear derailleur contains the transmitter for wireless communication with the STI shifters and other external devices, including those from third-party manufacturers. Furthermore, it houses the status LED and the adjustment knob, which is used, for example, to switch between Synchro-Shift modes.
Precise, lightning-fast gear changes at the touch of a button, in any situation. The Shimano Ultegra Di2 RD R8150 rear derailleur is even more compact and lighter than its predecessor and features E-Tube connectors for extremely easy installation. Equipped with a crash mechanism that disconnects the connection to the motor in the event of strong external forces to prevent damage.
Shimano Ultegra FD-R8150 Di2 front derailleur
Lighter, faster and more aerodynamic: the Ultegra 12-speed Di2 front derailleur. Designed for chainring sizes ranging from 50/34 to 54/40 teeth, the new 12-speed Ultegra Di2 front derailleur operates even faster and more precisely. More compact and faster than ever before, the Ultegra R8150 front derailleur delivers shifting with digital precision in all conditions. By combining Shimano’s new Di2 platform with the road bike version of Hyperglide+, the Ultegra R8150 front derailleur shifts between chainrings as quickly and seamlessly as no other model on the market.
Shimano Di2 ST-R8060 Ultegra shift-brake levers:
The brake levers are made from composite materials and the mechanical shifting components have been eliminated, resulting in significant weight savings on the ST-R8060 shift-brake levers. Equipped with the programmable Syncro Shift function, the shift levers can be programmed entirely to your personal preferences. The new triathlon and time trial shift levers are each equipped with just one programmable button. Programming is easily carried out via a tablet, smartphone or computer.
Shimano Di2 STI SW-R9160 TT Bar-End Shifters:
The electronic Shimano time trial shift lever for the Di2 system. The Di2 shift levers SW-RW9160 are mounted on the handlebar ends of the time trial extensions. Optionally, the SW-R9150 secondary shifter can also be fitted, allowing the rear gears to be changed quickly and without re-gripping in any riding situation. The SW-R9160 Di2 shifters with their single-button design offer the ability to operate the front derailleur and rear derailleur in the aero position
Synchro-Shift technology
Synchro-Shift technology greatly simplifies shifting and significantly reduces the number of decisions that need to be made whilst riding. Particularly in crucial race situations or when riding at full throttle, riders often have to make a multitude of decisions alongside the physical strain, which are frequently disrupted and lead to wrong decisions. The fewer decisions there are to make, the better the decisions will be and the more attention can be focused on the race. This is precisely what Shimano Synchro-Shift technology enables, always selecting the optimal next-higher or next-lower gear combination, regardless of whether this requires shifting on the rear derailleur and/or the front derailleur.
Shimano Synchro-Shift functions
- Full Synchro-Shift: The front derailleur reacts to the shifts the rider makes on the rear derailleur. Essentially, this means that only one shifter with two levers is needed to operate both the rear and front derailleurs.
- Semi Synchro-Shift: The rear derailleur responds to the gear changes the rider makes on the front derailleur. The rear derailleur automatically performs the necessary compensatory shifting.
Shimano Ultegra Powermeter Power Measurement Technology:
The newly developed power meter crankset from the Ultegra R8100 series with power measurement on both sides. The power meter’s central unit is compactly housed behind the crank spindle, and the strain gauges are integrated into the left and right crank arms. Thanks to the battery integrated into the axle, the Bluetooth interface and the ability to update the power meter’s firmware via the E-Tube platform. The ANT+ Bluetooth® LE interface is compatible with many cycle computers.
Shimano Ultegra R8100 crank arms
Hollow-forged chainrings, thin-walled hollow-forged crank arms and a reduction in the outer surface area reduce the weight of the new Shimano Dura-Ace FCR 9100 crankset to 609 grams. The design of the 2x11-speed Hollowtech II crankset not only boasts a look and aesthetic with cult potential, but also ensures enhanced performance. A wider, yet lighter than its predecessor, crank arm and the large chainrings with Hollowglide technology increase stiffness and optimise power transfer to the pedal.
Optional bottom brackets:
We offer optional bottom brackets from Shimano, Wheels Manufacturing and FSA for the Shimano Ultegra R8150 Di2 groupset. This allows the crankset to be fitted into all standard bottom bracket shells.
Shimano BR R8100 or BR-R8110 rim brakes:
The sleek R8100 series rim brake, with its lightweight dual-pivot caliper, offers maximum precision for better control and greater reliability in races. Thanks to the additional reinforcement booster, the Ultegra BR-R8100 brakes offer unprecedented torsional stiffness. The rim brake is easy to adjust and maintain thanks to easy access for tools and the ability to change wheels quickly.
With direct-mount brakes, the brake is mounted to the frame or fork using two bolts. These bolts are positioned directly at the brake’s pivot points. This increases stiffness and thus braking performance. Please check your frame specifications. For direct mounting of the brakes, the frame or fork requires two threaded holes each for mounting the brakes.
Shimano CS-R8100 Di2 12-speed cassette:
The Shimano Ultegra CSR8100 cassette, featuring two large sprocket blocks on an aluminium spider, offers Shimano’s outstanding smooth shifting performance combined with low weight and long-lasting durability. Shimano offers replacement sprockets for these cassettes. This means that if only a few are worn, they can be replaced cost-effectively.
The 12-speed cassettes are compatible with both the new HG12 and the previous HG11 freehub bodies. The new 12-speed freehub bodies feature finer teeth. This allows for a significantly better connection between the cassette and the freehub body.
Shimano CN-M8100 chain:
The Shimano chain for 12-speed road and MTB drivetrains. The special asymmetrical outer and inner links, combined with Shimano’s SIL-TEC surface coating, minimise friction, optimise performance and also reduce dirt build-up.
The chain is perfectly matched to the 12-speed Shimano chainrings with Dynamic Chain Engagement+ (DCE+) tooth profiles. The HG Plus chain has been completely redesigned and features even finer, precision-machined contact surfaces with the sprockets and chainrings, particularly on the inner links. Furthermore, the inner links are chrome-plated, making them even more durable whilst delivering excellent shifting performance when shifting up or down.
Compatible bottom bracket shells – bottom brackets
There is now a wide variety of bottom bracket shells on modern frames. Shimano only offers compatible bottom brackets for some of these. To ensure the Ultegra groupset fits all frames, we supply optional FSA or Wheels MFG bottom brackets for the bottom bracket shells for which Shimano does not offer bottom brackets. The Wheels Outboard bottom brackets are significantly more durable than standard press-fit bearings, as the cup halves are bolted together, ensuring they sit firmly in the frame. The Wheels bearings are available in different quality grades: ABEC3 standard bearings, angular contact bearings and ceramic bearings.
