Shimano GRX 820 Disc
The GRX disc brake model for 12x1 drivetrains with a left-hand brake lever without a shift function.
The Shimano GRX BL-RX820-L brake lever is optimised for single-speed systems and, thanks to SHIMANO’s hydraulic disc brakes and numerous gravel-specific design features, offers greater comfort and control when riding on mixed terrain. The textured surface of the GRX brake levers ensures you always stay in control, even on bumpy descents. Thanks to the non-slip coating on the GRX brake levers, you always have SHIMANO’s legendary braking power at your disposal, even in wet and muddy conditions. With its rounded profile, the new GRX RX820 brake lever shape distributes pressure more evenly across the hand, ensuring comfort over long distances.

Shimano BL RX820 Disc Brake Lever:
With the BL-RX820 disc brake lever, Shimano offers a very compact brake lever for hydraulic disc brakes and 12x1-speed drivetrains. The left lever has no shifting function. Ergonomics specially adapted for gravel use are characterised by a pivot point raised by 18 mm, a curved lever shape and non-slip textures on the contact surfaces, ensuring optimum grip even on the roughest terrain. The SERVOWAVE brake lever covers a significant braking distance at the start of its movement, allowing the pads to be brought into contact with the brake disc with minimal lever travel. Once the brake pad makes contact, the force transmission ratio increases rapidly. The majority of the lever travel is thus still available to increase braking power and modulate it more precisely. The brake lever is equipped with a reach adjustment. This allows the lever to be adjusted to the size of the rider’s hand, their riding style or personal preferences.
Shimano BR-R820 brake caliper:
The GRX BR-R820 disc brake caliper offers gravel riders a completely new sense of control thanks to improved modulation and a faster bite point. And despite its flatter design, the system is quieter and easier to maintain than ever before. The BR-RX820 gravel disc brake calipers, with 10 per cent more clearance to the brake pads, are particularly resistant to twisting and are approved for brake discs up to 160 mm. Equipped with brake pads featuring external cooling fins, brake heat is reliably dissipated. These calipers are compatible with all Shimano disc brake levers. Recommended brake discs: SM-RT800, SM-RT86
Flat Mount Standard:
The new Flat Mount caliper standard for road bike brakes reduces weight and offers a significantly sleeker look. With the Flat Mount standard, the rear brake caliper sits directly on the chainstay; no adapter is required for caliper mounting. The bolts pass through the chainstay from below directly into the brake caliper. A flat adapter is still required on the fork. The adapter is screwed onto the rear of the fork leg, with the brake sitting directly on the adapter.
