Shimano XTR Trail M9120 Disc Brake Set

The high-end XTR Trail and Enduro disc brakes are lightweight yet extremely powerful, featuring ceramic pistons and titanium hardware, with the XTR Centerlock RT-MT900 discs and optional XTR adaptors

Completely new with 4-piston calipers, new I-Spec EV clamp and new lever body. The clamp moves further towards the centre of the lever and is angled. This cleverly allows the outer end of the reservoir to rest directly on the handlebar, creating an additional support point when the lever is actuated. This significantly increases stiffness and stability, ultimately leading to an even more direct braking feel and improved controllability. The BR-M9120 four-piston brake realises its immense potential in combination with a special Servo Wave brake lever, the BL-M9120, whose reach can be adjusted without tools and which also features an adjustment option for the free travel. Both brake calipers feature a one-piece aluminium design and are combined with highly rigid brake lines, ensuring that the new XTR brake systems deliver significantly faster response and reduced free travel.

Contents of Shimano XTR Trail Brake Set

XTR disc brake lever BL M9120 and brake caliper BR M9120, including brake pads with SM-BH90-SBM brake hose, SM-RT900 brake discs and optional XTR SMMA90 adaptors. The necessary screws, washers, spare hose nipples and hose sleeves for assembly are included in the scope of delivery.

These brakes are supplied without oil. The One-Way Bleeding Funnel TL-BR003 and SMDBOIL oil are required for bleeding.

Shimano XTR BL-M9120 brake lever:

The Shimano XTR Disc Brake Lever BL-M9120, featuring a grippy trail brake lever, is equipped with a cylindrical reservoir and the new brake lever guide for significantly more ergonomic handling. Thanks to ServoWave, it offers 30 per cent faster response and, due to design changes, 10 per cent more braking power. The I-Spec EV mount for direct mounting of the Shimano 12-speed MTB shifters ensures a tidy cockpit.

Shimano XTR BR-M9120 brake caliper:

The XTR 4-piston brake calipers feature the 4-piston technology from the current 12-speed M9120 component series and N03 A-Resin brake pads with cooling fins. The XTR BR-M9120 brake caliper, designed for all-mountain to enduro use with its exceptionally smooth-operating ceramic pistons, is extremely torsion-resistant and approved for brake discs up to 220 mm. The calipers feature the Post Mount standard and are compatible with adapters for Post Mount and IS2000 frame and fork mounts. Also approved for cargo and transport bikes.

Shimano I-Spec EV Mounting:

The new I-Spec EV system offers a wider adjustment range with 14 mm of lateral movement and 60 degrees of rotation. The I-Spec EV mount is not compatible with older I-Spec Type A, Type B or Type II mounts.

Shimano SMMT900 Centerlock disc

The RT MT900 brake discs are designated by Shimano for the XTR and Saint series, but can of course also be used with other Shimano disc brakes.

The Shimano RTMT900 Ice Tech Freeza brake discs feature additional cooling fins. The Centrelock brake discs on the aluminium carrier are manufactured using a sandwich construction. The aluminium core is encased by the steel braking surface. This significantly reduces heat build-up and increases the durability of all Shimano brakes.

The Shimano XTR Disc is supplied with Post Mount 6 brake calipers.

IS 2000: Side mounting. An adapter is always required to fit the brake; maximum 203 mm, minimum 160 mm on the fork and 140 mm disc size on the frame. Common on older suspension forks and almost all rear triangle frames

Post Mount, PM5: Direct mounting of the brake without an adapter, using 140 mm brake discs. Maximum 180 mm, minimum 140 mm disc size. Currently found only on rear triangle frames

Post Mount, PM6: Direct mounting of the brake with 160 mm brake discs without an adapter. Maximum 220 mm, minimum 160 mm on the fork and 140 mm disc size on the frame. Currently the most common standard on forks, and on some rear triangle frames.

Post Mount, PM7: Direct mounting of the brake with 180mm discs without an adapter. Maximum 220mm, minimum 180mm disc size. 140mm and 160mm disc sizes are not possible. Found on some enduro suspension forks such as the Magura Thor and on some rear triangle frames such as the Liteville 301.

Post Mount, PM8: Direct mounting of the brake without an adapter, using 203mm brake discs. Can only be used with 203mm and 220mm brake discs. Found only on downhill suspension forks and frames
