The components used by the pros: the high-end Dura Ace wireless 12-speed series, crafted from the finest materials – titanium, carbon and aluminium. As a complete package, the Shimano Dura Ace R9200 Di2 Disc Flat Mount groupset, optionally with bottom bracket, charger, brake discs and bleed kit. The new Shimano Dura Ace Di2 R9200 disc brake components, the affordable version of Shimano’s electronic road bike components.
The new Di2 platform for the 12-speed components requires no cable connection to the rear derailleur and front derailleur. The Di2 Dual Control shift levers ST R8170 have the necessary wireless module integrated. Power is supplied by CR1632 batteries. These have a service life of up to 2 years. The Di2 12-speed rear derailleur, with its additional wireless unit, acts as a receiver and distributor of shift signals and is connected to the battery and front derailleur for power supply and shift command transmission. Additional wireless components, including those from third-party manufacturers, can also be paired with the rear derailleur.
Shimano Dura Ace RD R9250 Di2 rear derailleur:
The new Dura Ace Di2 rear derailleur is the centrepiece of the new Di2 12-speed components. It provides the wireless functionality and connection to external components, and also includes the charging port, replacing the previous SM-BCR2 charger. Furthermore, the rear derailleur houses the transmitter for wireless communication with the STI shifters and other external devices, including those from third-party manufacturers. It also features the status LED and the adjustment button, which is used, for example, to switch between Synchro-Shift modes, meaning that the previous Junction A port, SM-RS910, is no longer required.
Precise, lightning-fast shifting at the touch of a button, in any situation. The Shimano Dura Ace Di2 RD R9250 rear derailleur is even more compact and lighter than its predecessor and features E-Tube connectors for extremely easy installation. Equipped with a crash mechanism that disconnects the link to the motor in the event of strong external forces to prevent damage.
Shimano Dura Ace FD R9250 Di2 front derailleur:
Lighter, faster and more aerodynamic: the Dura-Ace 12-speed Di2 front derailleur. Designed for chainring sizes ranging from 50/34 to 54/40 teeth, the new 12-speed Dura-Ace Di2 front derailleur operates even faster and more precisely. More compact and faster than ever before, the Dura-Ace R9250 front derailleur delivers shifts with digital precision in all conditions. By combining Shimano’s new Di2 platform with the road bike version of Hyperglide+, the Dura-Ace R9250 front derailleur shifts between chainrings as quickly and seamlessly as no other model on the market.
Shimano Dura Ace Di2 STI ST R9270 Disc Brake Levers:
The new Dura Ace ST-R9270 brake lever offers improved modulation and control on every ride thanks to Shimano’s proven Servo Wave technology. The Di2 Disc wireless shift/brake levers, with their new ergonomic shape, feature higher levers that are also slightly angled inwards. Furthermore, the space between the brake lever and the handlebars has been slightly increased to provide the optimal balance of comfort and control. Road cyclists will now be able to grip the new levers more securely and comfortably with their thumb and index finger, whilst the remaining three fingers can be positioned comfortably between the handlebars and the brake lever. However, thanks to adjustments and enlargements to the design of the shift buttons, these remain easy to reach from the lower handlebar position. Furthermore, the two shift buttons on each STI lever are now positioned at a greater height difference from one another, enabling more intuitive operation, particularly with wet, cold fingers or full-finger gloves. In addition, the shift-brake levers feature classic cable connections for mounting additional shift levers.
Shimano Dua Ace Disc Brake Caliper BR-R9270:
The BR-R9270 road bike disc brake calipers for the 12-speed Dua Ace groupset. These calipers are compatible with all Shimano disc brake levers. Recommended brake discs: RT-MT900. Thanks to the 10 per cent greater spacing between the brake pads, the brakes can be adjusted more effectively and noise is minimised.
The new Dua Ace BR-R9270 brake caliper offers improved modulation, a quieter braking system and an extremely simple bleeding process. The Dura-Ace R9270 disc brake caliper offers road cyclists a completely new sense of control thanks to its improved modulation and faster-engaging initial braking force. Despite its flatter design, the system produces less braking noise than ever before and is easier to maintain. The bleeding system has been redesigned and made significantly simpler.
Optional Dura Ace RT-CL900 brake discs:
The new Shimano Dura Ace RT-CL900 Ice Tech Centerlock brake discs, quieter control on any terrain. The lightweight brake discs, featuring heat-dissipating painted, protruding aluminium layer segments, deliver excellent cooling performance, consistent braking power and easier operation in all conditions. Quieter than ever before, yet with first-class and reliable braking performance on all long, steep descents thanks to excellent heat dissipation. When developing the new brake disc, the aim was to prevent heat-induced warping. The result is incredibly quiet braking performance without compromising on weight or heat dissipation.
Optional Shimano Dura Ace CS-R9200 cassette:
The Shimano Dura Ace CSR9200 cassette, featuring two large sprocket blocks and titanium sprockets on an aluminium spider, offers Shimano’s outstanding smooth shifting performance combined with low weight and long-lasting durability. Shimano offers replacement sprockets for these cassettes. This means that if only a few are worn, they can be replaced cost-effectively.
The new Hyperglide+ cassettes set new standards for shifting, thanks to smooth gear changes across the entire gear range. Even when applying maximum force on climbs or sprinting to the finish line, riders no longer need to worry about changing gears. In all gears, the Dura-Ace R9200 drivetrain ensures maximum efficiency thanks to larger teeth. Despite their expansion to 12 speeds without adding weight, Dura-Ace CS-R9200 cassettes set new standards for road bike shifting systems.
The 12-speed cassettes are compatible with both the new HG12 and the previous HG11 freehub bodies. The new 12-speed freehub bodies feature finer teeth. This allows for a significantly better connection between the cassette and the freehub body.
Optional Shimano Dura Ace CN - M9100 chain
The Shimano chain for 12-speed road bike and MTB drivetrains. The special asymmetrical outer and inner links, combined with Shimano’s SIL-TEC surface coating, minimise friction, optimise performance and also reduce dirt build-up.
The chain is perfectly matched to the 12-speed Shimano chainrings with Dynamic Chain Engagement+ (DCE+) tooth profiles. The HG Plus chain has been completely redesigned and features even finer, precision-machined contact surfaces with the sprockets and chainrings, particularly on the inner links. Furthermore, the inner links are chrome-plated, making them even more durable whilst delivering excellent shifting performance when shifting up or down.
Flat Mount Standard:
The new Flat Mount caliper standard for road bike brakes reduces weight and offers a significantly sleeker look. With the Flat Mount standard, the rear brake caliper sits directly on the chainstay; no adapter is required for caliper mounting. The bolts pass through the chainstay from below directly into the brake caliper. A flat adapter is still required on the fork. The adapter is screwed onto the rear of the fork leg, with the brake sitting directly on the adapter.
Synchro-Shift technology
Synchro-Shift technology greatly simplifies gear changes and significantly reduces the number of decisions that need to be made whilst riding. Particularly in crucial race situations or when riding at full throttle, riders often have to make a multitude of decisions alongside the physical strain, which are frequently disrupted and lead to wrong decisions. The fewer decisions there are to make, the better the decisions will be and the more attention can be focused on the race. This is precisely what Shimano Synchro-Shift technology enables, always selecting the optimal next-higher or next-lower gear combination, regardless of whether this requires shifting at the rear derailleur and/or the front derailleur.
Shimano Synchro-Shift functions
- Full Synchro-Shift: The front derailleur reacts to the shifts the rider makes on the rear derailleur. Essentially, this means that only one shifter with two levers is needed to operate both the rear and front derailleurs.
- Semi Synchro-Shift: The rear derailleur responds to the gear changes the rider makes on the front derailleur. The rear derailleur automatically performs the necessary compensatory shifting.
Shimano Di2 installation:
Installing Shimano Di2 components is almost easier than fitting traditional gear systems. The standardised cable connectors and the junction box ensure straightforward and quick installation. The shift levers are connected to Junction Port A on the junction box; a cable runs from Junction Port A to Junction Port B on the junction box, and from there the cables run to the rear derailleur, front derailleur and battery. The battery can be mounted externally on the bottle cage or internally in the seat tube or down tube. Frames specifically designed for this purpose are required for internal cable routing.
