Shimano Ultegra Di2 ST-R8170 STI Shift Lever

The new Ultegra ST-R8170 brake lever offers improved modulation and control on every ride thanks to Shimano’s proven Servo Wave technology. The brand-new Di2 platform is used on Dura-Ace and Ultegra, where it ensures the world’s fastest and most reliable wireless shifting.

The new Di2 platform for 12-speed components requires no cable connection to the rear derailleur and front derailleur. The Di2 Dual Control shift levers ST R8170 have the necessary wireless module integrated. Power is supplied by CR1632 batteries, which have a service life of up to 2 years. The Di2 12-speed rear derailleur, with its additional wireless unit, acts as a receiver and distributor of shift signals and is connected to the battery and front derailleur for power supply and shift command transmission. Additional wireless components, including those from third-party manufacturers, can also be paired with the rear derailleur.

Shimano Ultegra Di2 Disc shift/brake lever ST R8170:

The Di2 Disc wireless shift/brake levers, with their new ergonomic shape, feature higher levers that are also slightly angled inwards. In addition, the space between the brake lever and the handlebar has been slightly increased to provide the optimal balance of comfort and control. Road cyclists will be able to grip the new levers better and more securely with their thumb and index finger, whilst the remaining three fingers can be comfortably positioned between the handlebars and the brake lever. However, thanks to an adjustment and enlargement of the shift button design, these remain easy to reach from the lower handlebar position. Furthermore, the two shift buttons on each STI lever are now positioned at a greater height difference from one another, enabling more intuitive operation, particularly with wet, cold fingers or full-finger gloves. Additionally, the shift-brake levers feature classic cable connections for mounting additional shift levers.
