Shimano Deore XT FD M8100 front derailleur

The new Shimano XT 12-speed components, designed for use ranging from cross-country to enduro. The XT components designated 8100 are designed for 1x12 and 1x12-speed drivetrains. The legendary durability and performance of XT MTB parts is now also available in a 12-speed version. The new Deore XT M8100 series boasts a host of technical highlights, including Shimano’s groundbreaking 12-speed Micro Spline cassettes, available with a range of either 10-45T or 10-51T, 1x12- or 2x12-speed Hollowtech II cranksets, powerful two- and four-piston brakes, I-Spec EV shifters, high-precision 12-speed rear derailleurs and front derailleurs, Ice Tech Frezza brake discs with their outstanding heat dissipation, as well as the WH-M8100 and WH-M8120 wheelsets for XC and Enduro use.

Shimano XT FD-M8100 Side Swing front derailleur

The XT 12-speed FD-M100 front derailleur utilises Side-Swing technology. This delivers significantly better shifting performance. Designed specifically with modern trail bikes in mind, the Side-Swing derailleur offers 15mm more clearance between the seat tube and tyre, whilst the completely new and optimised cable routing and control drastically reduce the effort required to shift gears.

Shimano XT FD-M8100 Front Pull derailleur:

These front-pull derailleurs are only compatible with frames designed for them. The shift cable is routed from the front and the outer cable housing is routed all the way to the derailleur. A classic shift cable routing from above or below is not possible with these derailleurs.

Shimano XT Low Direct Mount Derailleur:

The Low Direct front derailleurs are mounted directly onto frames designed for this purpose; the bolt spacing is 22.1 mm, horizontal, and features an offset at the mount. Not compatible with E-Type front derailleur mounts

Shimano XT FD-M8100 front derailleur compatibility:

The new Shimano 12-speed XT front derailleur series is only compatible with the 12-speed MTB rear derailleurs and shift levers from the Shimano MTB series. The CSM8100 chain is recommended.
