Wolf Tooth Performance Headset

Wolf Tooth Performance EC44 bottom bracket for frames with a 44 mm press-fit diameter at the bottom of the head tube and forks with a 1.5-inch / 40 mm steerer tube diameter at the bottom.

Wolf Tooth headsets are manufactured in the USA from 6061 aircraft-grade aluminium and are available in two series, Premium and Performance, which differ in terms of bearing materials.

Wolf Tooth Performance bearings:

The Performance series, featuring black oxide-coated chrome steel bearings, has three levels of specifically shaped double-lip seals to protect the bearings even under the toughest conditions. Designed to be lightweight, strong and durable.

EC44/40 bottom thread:

The EC44 headset is pressed into the head tube from below; the press-fit dimension in the frame is 44 mm and the fork steerer tube diameter is 1.5 inches at the bottom. The headset cone requires a 40 mm seat on the fork.

EC/External Cup – external headset:

Head sets designated EC / External Cup are also referred to as external or classic head sets. These head sets require a frame designed for this purpose with an exact match for the bearing cups. ‘External Cup’ refers to the relatively large projection of the bearing cups on the head tube, whilst ‘EC44’, for example, denotes the installation dimension, the outer diameter of the bearing cup and the inner diameter of the bearing cups within the frame. The headsets must be fitted using a special tool; the frame simply needs to be cleanly pre-milled.
