Chris King GripNut 1 1/8 inch EC34 threaded headset
The GripNut headset brings the proven Chris King quality to older frames that feature a threaded steerer tube instead of the Ahead standard commonly used today.
Chris King GripNut 1 1/8 inch headset – specifications and dimensions:
- Material: CNC-machined aluminium, anodised
- Bearings: Industrial bearings with multiple seals
- Top: EC 34/28.6 thread, 26 tpi for 1 1/8 inch steerer tube
- Bottom EC 34/30 for 1 1/8-inch steerer tube
- Overall height: 37.4 mm, cup height 11 mm, GripNut height 12 mm
- Weight: 125 grams (manufacturer’s specification)
- The headset cannot be used with spacers or brake cable stops
A clamping sleeve between the adjustment nut and lock nut secures the steerer tube rock-solid, even if its thread is damaged or it has been sawn off slightly too short. Due to this design, the GripNut headset is not suitable for bicycles with spacers or brake cable stops between the adjustment nut and lock nut.
