Schmidt SON 28 hub dynamo, 6-hole disc, polished silver finish, 36-hole spoke pattern.
Schmidt SON 28 hub dynamo
Now also available as a disc version with a 6-hole brake disc mount, the new SON 28 is similar in design and appearance to the SONdelux. In the standard version, the flange spacing and bearing spacing have been increased by 12 mm and 10 mm respectively compared to the SONdelux. Compared to the classic SON 28 model from 2000 to 2011, no-load losses have been reduced by approx. 15 per cent and the weight by 140 g.
Son 28 Dynamo:
The SON, Schmidt’s original 28-inch hub dynamo, has been the standard for high-quality, fail-safe bicycle lighting for years and, as a result of its design, remains unmatched even by new products from much larger companies. The secret lies in its gearless construction using high-quality materials and the adherence to tight tolerances, which is likely only achievable through handcrafting by a dedicated small team. The dynamo is switched off electrically only. Thanks to optimisation, the no-load losses when switched off amount to just 1 watt and are imperceptible even to the most sensitive cyclists whilst riding.
