Shimano XT wheelset with DT Swiss EX 471 rims

MTB wheelsets for all-mountain and trail riding. Thanks to a 25 mm inner rim width, they are suitable for tyres up to 2.5 inches wide, and the robust Shimano XT hubs make them very durable and low-maintenance.

We offer this wheelset with different axle options, so you can put together the right version for your bike. The Shimano XT is available with M8110B hubs for 12x148mm Boost mounting, the M8010 for 12x142mm thru-axle mounting, and the M8000 for quick-release mounting. Weight: Rear wheel approx. 1030 grams depending on the spokes and nipples selected

Wheel building at TNC-Hamburg:

Hand-built in our specialist workshop. We manufacture these wheels entirely by hand for you, which is why we cannot offer a right of return for them. Thanks to more than 30 years of experience in wheel building, we get the very best in roundness, durability and stiffness out of the material. These wheels are, of course, trued multiple times, and we also pre-load the spokes in both the radial and lateral directions. This eliminates the need for re-truing over a long period of time. We use DT Swiss spokes exclusively. These ensure outstanding durability of the wheelsets. For DH and Enduro use, we recommend brass nipples.

These wheels are custom-made for you, so we cannot offer a right of return for them.

Shimano XT hubs M8010 / M8000

New seals and axle provide reliable protection against contamination of the bearings. Equipped with a new 4-pawl freehub body for loss-free power transmission. The Centerlock mount allows for easy mounting of Shimano Centerlock brake discs. An adapter is available for 6-hole brake discs.

DT Swiss Competition spokes:

The double cold-forged spoke made from rust-resistant 18/10 chrome-nickel steel with a tapered middle section for robust, lightweight wheelsets. We recommend these spokes for virtually all wheelsets. Extremely durable and sufficiently lightweight, DT Competition spokes enable wheel building of the highest standard. Thanks to the tapered section in the middle, the spokes absorb movement in the wheel exceptionally well, without compromising on lateral stiffness or durability.

DT Swiss EX 471 rim:

The lightweight 30 mm wide Enduro rim with a 25 mm rim width from DT Swiss, the EX 471. Designed for wide Enduro tyres, the DT EX 471 rim offers very high stability with a pleasingly low weight of just 475 grams. Thanks to extensive FEM analyses, DT Swiss EX 471 rims feature material only where it is actually needed. These rims are supplied with special DT Squorx Pro Head nipples and PHR washers and must only be laced using these nipples. With the wide EX 471 rim, DT Swiss offers a rim for stable and lightweight All Mountain to Enduro wheelsets. Cleanly finished, with a welded joint and stainless steel eyelets, the DT Swiss EX 471 strikes the perfect balance between low weight and high stability.

The DT Swiss EX471 rims are equipped with rim flanges adapted for tubeless tape and can be easily upgraded to lightweight tubeless rims using DT Swiss tubeless tape

DT Swiss Competition spokes:

DT Swiss Aero Comp spokes:

Designed for stable, laterally stiff yet aerodynamic wheels, the DT Swiss Aero Comp spoke is cold-forged in the middle section, making it lighter and stronger. In a further complex process, it is flat-forged to optimise aerodynamic properties whilst increasing material strength. The DT Aero Comp guarantees a balanced combination of stiffness, aerodynamics and durability.

DT Swiss Aero Lite spokes:

The DT Swiss Aerolite spoke is flatter and lighter than any other; the DT Swiss Aerolite spoke features an aerodynamic flat profile and is extremely lightweight. Thanks to the 0.9 x 2.3 mm aerodynamic mid-section, this spoke can be fitted to all standard hubs. The Cold Forging Technology (CFT) developed by DT Swiss makes the reduced and forged DT Aerolite the lightest stainless steel spoke and gives it excellent mechanical properties. Particularly suitable for super-light and fast road or cross-country wheelsets. 64 DT Aerolite spokes weigh an incredible 278 g at a length of 264 mm. Weight per spoke at 264 mm length: 4.31 grams

DT Swiss Revolite spokes:

Completely redesigned with a 2 mm spoke head and 2 mm spoke thread, and aerodynamically tapered to 1.3 mm at the centre, the Revolite is the stable all-round spoke. The DT Revolite is the ideal choice for riders looking for a spoke that combines durability with low weight. Double cold-forged spoke made from rust-proof 18/10 chrome-nickel steel with a 1.3 mm thick and 1.58 mm wide semi-aero centre section.

DT Squorx spoke nipples:

The DT Swiss Squorx Pro Head nipple combines ease of installation with light weight thanks to the DT Pro Head design, combined with an additional Torx and square tool socket. The Torx socket provides a larger contact area during wheel building, ensuring that the force from the tool is better distributed across the nipple. The spherical contact area within the rim guarantees perfect alignment with the spoke.
