Road and gravel bike saddle, Prologo Nago R4 PAS 3DMSS Nack, 3D-printed saddle cover, length 245 mm, width 137 mm, carbon frame, oval 9x7 mm, colour: black

Prologo Nago R4 PAS 3DMSS Saddle

The Nago R4 PAS features a 3D-printed saddle cover and a carbon saddle frame, weighing just 148 grams. It is the lightest of all 3D models currently available on the market.

Prologo Nago R4 PAS 3DMSS saddle technology and dimensions:

  • Saddle cover: 3DMSS print
  • Saddle shell: Carbon fibre-reinforced plastic
  • Frame material: Carbon
  • Frame: Nack oval 9x7 mm
  • Length: 245 mm
  • Width: 137 mm
  • Maximum tightening torque: 12 Newton metres
  • Weight: approx. 148 grams, manufacturer’s specification

The Nack Carbon seatpost is oval. Compatible with all seatposts that are clamped from the top or bottom. Special clamps are usually required for seatposts with side clamping.

The NAGO R4 PAS 3DMSS features the same ergonomic T-shape and compact dimensions (245 x 137 mm) as the NAGO R4, the new multi-sector saddle already used by several professionals such as Tadej Pogačar, Mark Cavendish, Geraint Thomas, Pello Bilbao and Alberto Bettiol.

The NAGO R4, Redesign, is the evolution of the iconic NAGO, the Prologo saddle launched in 2008, which has already won a Giro d’Italia and many classics over the years. The new saddle was developed based on the needs of the professional teams supported by Prologo and perfected through “Pressure Map MyOwn” testing to meet the needs of all cyclists seeking maximum performance and comfort, even on long rides.

Compact dimensions with a length of 245 mm and a T-shape, featuring a slightly forward-tilted anatomical centre to ensure good freedom of movement in the saddle and maximise pedalling efficiency in all positions. The semi-circular ergonomic shape makes the NAGO R4 PAS ideal for cyclists with average pelvic rotation flexibility, whilst the narrow width of just 137 mm is best suited to riders with a shorter inseam.

The NAGO R4 PAS 3DMSS was developed based on analysis of Pressure Map MyOwn tests, Prologo’s proprietary system, which enabled a scientific analysis of the pressure zones exerted on the saddle by various professional and amateur cyclists.

The data collected enabled the development and production of an extremely lightweight 3D saddle with a cover comprising separate sectors that adapt perfectly to the various pressure zones and can ensure maximum support and comfort throughout all phases of pedalling.

3DMSS, THE MULTI-SECTOR SYSTEM TECHNOLOGY GOES 3D

The cover of the new NAGO R4 PAS 3DMSS combines MSS (Multi Sector System) technology with an innovative 3D printing process, which makes it possible to create five separate sectors for each side of the saddle that adapt perfectly to the individual pressure zones and take the cyclist’s body shape into account.

Each sector features different complex geometric shapes, varying densities and differentiated elasticity coefficients depending on its position and function:

the rear section has a high density and a high elasticity coefficient to provide better support for the sit bones and facilitate the traction phase during pedalling;
the three central sections have a low density and a medium elasticity coefficient to provide maximum comfort where the soft tissue rests;
the front section has a medium density and a low elasticity coefficient to provide good support even when pedalling at the tip of the saddle.
COMFORT AND PERFORMANCE WITH A RECORD-BREAKING WEIGHT FOR A 3D SADDLE

Part of our design efforts also focused on addressing a typical weakness of 3D saddles, namely their weight, which is known to be higher than that of conventional saddles.

Using data from the Pressure Map MyOwn tests, areas of the saddle where the pressure exerted was lower were identified. The cover sections in these areas were manufactured using special 3D geometric shapes, designed to limit the amount of material used without compromising comfort or restricting the saddle’s performance.

The injection-moulded long-fibre carbon base and the Nack rail (Nano Carbon Fibre) help to further reduce the overall weight whilst ensuring maximum stiffness.

The result? The new NAGO R4 PAS 3DMSS weighs just 149 grams. The absolute lightest weight compared to all 3D models currently available on the market.

Prologo PAS Technology:

The open version of the NAGO R4 PAS features two separate, completely independent sections made from the latest generation of variable-density foam to ensure excellent support and comfort throughout all phases of pedalling. At the centre is Prologo’s PAS system: a wide central channel and a perforated base to prevent pressure peaks, even during the phases of maximum pedalling force.

Prologo carbon-reinforced plastic saddle shell:

The saddle shell is manufactured using a carbon fibre-reinforced plastic injection moulding process developed by Prologo. This results in a saddle shell that is 15 per cent lighter, increases stability and creates an attractive and durable surface.

Prologo Nack Carbon saddle frame:

The saddle rail is made from Prologo’s C3 carbon fibres and reinforced at the seatpost clamp with special Nack / Nano aluminium-carbon-Kevlar threads. The BCR / Braided Carbon Rail process is used to ensure the perfect fusion and uniformity of the different fibre types. The result is a lightweight saddle rail with maximum stability.
