Cross Tubular Tyre Challenge Baby Limus Ultra Tubular

The all-round cyclocross tyre for wet or dry conditions, sticky mud or dry tracks: the Baby Limus Pro with its high-end silk carcass.

A modified version of the popular Challenge Limus. It is based on the Limus tread pattern with its first-class self-cleaning properties. In the centre section, however, the lugs are denser and lower, ensuring an optimal combination of cornering stability and smooth rolling.

The Tubular series of Challenge tyres, as ridden by the pros. These tyres are glued to the rim and offer outstanding puncture resistance, and can be ridden at very low air pressure.

Challenge Seta Ultra Silk Casing:

The Seta Ultra silk casing is additionally equipped with PPS (Puncture Protection Strip), a layer of high-strength fabric between the casing and the tyre to reduce the risk of punctures. The silk casing is expensive and very labour-intensive to manufacture, but offers a stronger weave than cotton or polyester. As a result, the Seta silk casing provides a softer and smoother ride and allows for higher cornering speeds.

Challenge handmade tubular tyres:

An art in itself. Exclusively manufactured in Italy. The manufacturing process differs completely from that of a standard bicycle tyre. Each individual handmade tubular requires many steps of meticulous handcrafting. Only the most experienced staff are employed to assemble the individual components using a wide variety of assembly, gluing and sewing techniques.

• Handmade tyres combine a multitude of outstanding features to offer maximum comfort and minimal rolling resistance. Carefully selected materials are used in the various tyre grades depending on performance requirements for specific uses. Soft, supple casings quickly adapt to the shape of the ground surface when rolling and cornering. This increases ground contact and grip and improves shock absorption on poor road surfaces. Soft, natural rubber treads are combined with lightweight, flexible puncture protection.

• You can think of the three types of handmade casings in much the same way as shirts made from the same material. The finest casings are made from silk, just like the finest suits, ties, scarves and shirts. Silk is a strong, soft, natural fibre, but the high cost and labour-intensive processing mean that this level of quality is almost exclusively reserved for world championships and Olympic competitions.

• Latex tubes are strong, lightweight and extremely flexible. They absorb shocks and significantly reduce rolling resistance by adapting perfectly to obstacles.

Handcrafted natural rubber – Soft compound

• Challenge’s hand-crafted natural rubber treads are formulated to offer the perfect balance of durability without compromising performance, comfort and control. Although Challenge tyres wear out 10–20 per cent faster than those of the competition, they score highly with significantly improved performance and a noticeably better riding experience throughout their entire lifespan. Depending on requirements, the tyres are fitted with rubber compounds of varying softness.

Puncture Protection System, PPS

• The PPS (Puncture Protection System) consists of one or more layers of fabric between the tread and the tyre carcass. PPS significantly increases the tyre’s resistance to punctures, thereby offering maximum reliability.
