The new HGC 1400 SPLINE is hand-built with hybrid-specific components and easily handles the additional weight and higher torque of modern e-gravel bikes. If you’ve previously lacked the power to push your limits, you can now overcome them with this carbon hybrid gravel wheelset. How? Thanks to a bespoke combination of high-end components built around a lightweight and agile carbon rim. At the heart of the system are the 240 Ratchet EXP OS hubs with their reinforced bearings and the hand-laced reinforced hybrid spokes. Improved stiffness and durability withstand even the most demanding conditions. The result is an agile and comfortable wheelset that lets you enjoy the freedom of off-road adventures for a long time to come.

DT Swiss Aero Comp Hybrid Straight Pull Spokes

To achieve an ideal balance between weight and stability, only the highest quality straight-pull spokes are used in SPLINE wheels. They are more stable than conventional spokes yet can still be trued and replaced using standard tools.

DT Swiss HGC 1400 Spline 30 Disc Clincher Rims

The rims, with a 24 mm rim width, are designed for use on gravel and all-road e-bikes. Extra-reinforced sidewalls and rim beds meet the specific requirements of e-bikes. With a 42 mm rim height, the full-carbon rims also offer excellent aerodynamics. In the HGC 1400 Spline C, the rims are made from high-modulus carbon fibre using a new resin. The profile, developed by Swiss Side and inspired by aircraft construction, offers optimum aerodynamics.

A revolutionary rim manufacturing process and non-destructive layer-by-layer testing of every product ensure rims that are both lightweight and robust, guaranteeing long-lasting riding pleasure.

The patent-pending outer carbon layer ensures an unrivalled high-quality finish to the rim surface, meaning the rim is ready for use immediately upon removal from the mould. The result is a structurally optimised composition free from air pockets and resin build-up, which not only improves the rim’s reliability but also ensures an elegant design.

Wheels exposed to particularly high loads are protected by carbon layers surrounding the entire rim; this reinforces the rim flange in particular with long, uninterrupted fibre strands.

The resulting protection against impacts and higher stresses prevents structural weakening between the carbon layers, ensuring carefree riding pleasure even on challenging routes.

The number of carbon layers added increases in line with the expected load in the various areas of use.

Thanks to a patented process, a unique surface is achieved, eliminating the need for final coatings and resulting in weight savings.

Hooked / Crotchet tubeless TC:

‘Hooked’ or ‘Crotchet’ refers to the shape of the rim flange, which features a so-called hook. This supports the tyre bead and ensures reliable performance, even when using high tyre pressure (> 5 bar). ‘Tubeless’ means that the rim can be used without an inner tube, although a setup with an inner tube is also possible.

DT Swiss Spline 1400 Disc Hubs

The new 240 OS Hybrid hub is equipped with special components such as the DT Swiss Ratchet EXP® OS system with 30 teeth to reliably transfer muscle and motor power to the ground. The bearing on the drive side and the hub flange have been enlarged. The spoke holes, which have also been enlarged, are specifically designed to accommodate DT Swiss’s reinforced 2.34 mm diameter spokes. These can withstand the higher loads generated during acceleration and braking. Furthermore, the freewheel system, made from hardened steel, improves the hub’s durability, enabling longer, worry-free eMTB tours.

Ratchet EXP OS:

Based on the Ratchet EXP system, the Ratchet EXP OS also connects the pawl to the hub by integrating the threaded ring with the pawl. This allows the use of a single spring, which improves the precision of the engagement as the pawls are always positioned at the correct angle.
