Fulcrum Soniq ALX wheelset

The new Fulcrum Soniq ALX wheels with a 23 mm rim width for tyres from 30–46 mm, featuring a high-strength, non-drilled 2-Way-Fit tubeless rim. Thanks to the 23 mm rim width, they are suitable for use on gravel bikes through to classic road bikes.

The top-of-the-range Soniq ALX is a perfect blend of technology and design. The welded rim is made from 6082 aluminium with T-6 heat treatment and features a non-drilled rim, which ensures greater stiffness and durability and eliminates the need for rim tape for tubeless fitting. The medium-height rim with a 33 mm profile and modern 23 mm rim width is suitable for tyres from 30 mm. Additional highlights include CNC square milling on the top of the rim, the sandblasted finish, the laser-engraved graphics and the chrome-coloured adhesive details. The triple-butted aero spokes are laced in Fulcrum’s 2:1 pattern, which optimises power transfer. The hub, featuring a through-axle and an adjustable bearing preload system, ensures smooth running and durability. The total weight is just 1,745 grams

Fulcrum Soniq ALX 2 Way Fit rims

2-Way Fit technology was developed to guarantee perfect compatibility of tubeless rims with standard clincher tyres and inner tubes. 2-Way Fit wheels are particularly versatile and therefore perfectly suited to any situation.

A special aluminium: the highest-performance aluminium wheels require careful material selection: Fulcrum’s R&D department uses only the best 6082 aluminium alloy for its “High Strength Aluminium”, with a T6 heat treatment that stabilises the alloy and ensures long-lasting durability and maximum reliability.Aluminium 6082 is a 6000 series alloy with the highest strength; it replaces 6061 in many applications and is generally used in high-load applications.

Hooked / Crotchet tubeless TC:

‘Hooked’ or ‘Crotchet’ refers to the shape of the rim flange, which features a so-called hook. This supports the tyre bead and ensures secure performance, even when using high tyre pressure (> 5 bar). ‘Tubeless’ means that the rim can be used without an inner tube, although a setup with an inner tube is also possible.

Fulcrum 2:1 Spoke Ratio:

24 high-tensile stainless steel spokes per wheel provide more than sufficient stability, laced in a 2:1 system. The moment the rider pedals with full force, the rotation of the sprocket set causes the spokes at the freehub to give way, resulting in a loss of tension in the rim. This causes excessive bending of the entire assembly, which inevitably results in a loss of energy. Fulcrum® has solved this classic cycling problem with its patented 2:1 Two-to-One Spoke Ratio, which means doubling the number of spokes in the critical areas.
