28-inch DT Swiss 240 EXP Straightpull wheel with DT RR 421 rim

The lightweight and sturdy high-end road, cyclocross, endurance and gravel rear wheel featuring the 420-gram lightweight asymmetrical DT Swiss RR 421 rims and the new DT Swiss 240 EXP spline hubs. We offer this wheelset with Centre Lock or 6-bolt disc brake mounts. The 240 EXP hubs are available in quick-release, thru-axle or Boost thru-axle versions. Thanks to their 20 mm rim width, the DT RR 421 rims are suitable for tyres between 28 and 40 mm wide.

The rear wheel features DT Swiss 240 EXP Spline straight-pull hubs and the lightweight yet sturdy DT Swiss RR 421 rims. Hand-built in our specialist workshop. You can customise this wheelset entirely to your preferences. Thanks to their 20 mm rim depth, the RR 421 rims are suitable for tyres between 28 and 40 mm wide. Combined with the DT Swiss straight-pull hubs from the 240 EXP series, you get a fast, high-end wheelset with excellent durability

DT Swiss 240 EXP hubs:

The DT Swiss 240 EXP straight-pull hubs offer minimal weight combined with exceptional durability – a rarity in hub construction. The DT Swiss 240 EXP hubs feature low-maintenance stainless steel ball bearings. The patented freehub body operates with interlocking toothed discs, ensuring loss-free power transmission. Straightpull refers to straight, non-offset spokes. Thanks to this technology, it is possible to achieve an ideal balance between weight and stability. The straightpull spokes allow for very precise alignment and optimised positioning within the wheel, resulting in a stiffer and more responsive wheel.

DT Swiss RR 421 rims:

The DT Swiss RR 421 DB road, gravel, cross and endurance rim for use with disc brakes is very light at just 420 grams and stable thanks to a high-strength aluminium alloy, an asymmetrical rim profile and a 24 mm rim width. With a rim width of 20 mm, the DT Swiss RR 421 DB rim is ideal for tyre sizes from 28–40 mm. The rim’s asymmetrical design allows for more even spoke tension, significantly increasing stability and service life. With a clean finish, welded joint, CNC-machined sidewalls and a 21 mm deep rim bed, the DT Swiss RR 421 DB is the perfect rim for building very light and stable wheelsets.

The DT Swiss RR 421 DB rims are high-end rims with a special spoke nipple mount and are supplied with special DT Squorx Pro Head nipples and PHR washers; they must only be laced using these nipples. Furthermore, the DT RR 412 rims are tubeless-ready.

Wheel building at TNC-Hamburg:

We hand-build these wheels exclusively for you. Thanks to over 30 years’ experience in wheel building, we extract the optimum in concentricity, durability and stiffness from the material. These wheels are, of course, pressure-tested multiple times, and we also pre-load the spokes in both the radial and lateral directions. This eliminates the need for re-centring over a long period of time. We use DT Swiss spokes exclusively. These ensure outstanding durability of the wheelsets. For DH and Enduro use, we recommend brass nipples.

These wheels are custom-made for you, so we cannot offer a right of return for them. Please feel free to enquire about other wheel configurations. We will then send you a quote.

DT Competition spokes:

The double cold-forged spoke made from rust-resistant 18/10 chrome-nickel steel with a tapered middle section for robust, lightweight wheels. We recommend these spokes for virtually all wheels. Extremely durable and sufficiently lightweight, DT Competition spokes enable wheel building of the highest standard. Thanks to the tapered middle section, the spokes absorb movements in the wheel exceptionally well, without compromising on lateral stiffness and durability. Weight with nipple approx. 7 grams.

DT Competition Race spokes:

Just as versatile as the bent version of the DT Competition spoke, but as a straight spoke. They are optimally matched to the new straight-pull hubs and offer even greater durability compared to the conventional DT Competition spoke. Thanks to the extra-thin middle section, they save a further 35 g per wheel compared to the already lightweight DT Competition, whilst offering almost the same stiffness and durability.

DT Swiss Aero Comp spokes:

Designed for stable, laterally stiff yet aerodynamic wheelsets, the DT Swiss Aero Comp spoke is cold-forged in the middle section, making it lighter and stronger. In a further complex process, it is flat-forged to optimise aerodynamic properties whilst simultaneously increasing material strength. The DT Aero Comp guarantees a balanced ratio of stiffness, aerodynamics and durability.

DT Swiss Aero Lite spokes:

The DT Swiss Aerolite spoke is flatter and lighter than any other; the DT Swiss Aerolite spoke features an aerodynamic flat profile and is extremely lightweight. Thanks to the 0.9 x 2.3 mm aerodynamic mid-section, this spoke can be fitted to all standard hubs. The Cold Forging Technology (CFT) developed by DT Swiss makes the reduced and forged DT Aerolite the lightest stainless steel spoke and gives it excellent mechanical properties. Particularly suitable for super-light and fast road or cross-country wheelsets. 64 DT Aerolite spokes weigh just an incredible 278 g at a length of 264 mm. Weight per spoke at a length of 264 mm: 4.31 grams

DT Squorx spoke nipples:

The DT Swiss Squorx Pro Head nipple combines ease of installation with light weight thanks to the DT Pro Head shape, combined with an additional Torx and square tool socket. The Torx socket provides a larger contact area during wheel building, ensuring that the force from the tool is better distributed across the nipple. The spherical contact area within the rim guarantees perfect alignment with the spoke.
