We offer the Son 28 hub dynamo for this wheel as either a quick-release 9x100 mm or thru-axle 12x100 and 15x100 mm version, and with 6-bolt and Centerlock brake disc mounts
Wheel building at TNC-Hamburg:
We hand-build these wheels exclusively for you. Thanks to over 30 years’ experience in wheel building, we extract the optimum in concentricity, durability and stiffness from the materials. These wheels are, of course, tested multiple times; we also pre-load the spokes in both the radial and lateral directions. This eliminates the need for re-truing over a long period. We use DT Swiss spokes exclusively. These ensure outstanding durability of the wheels. For DH and Enduro use, we recommend brass nipples.
These wheelsets are custom-made for you, which is why we cannot offer a right of return for them. We do not offer cash on delivery for these wheelsets.
Included in delivery:
- Front wheel fully laced and hand-trued in our workshop with a Son28 dynamo hub, DT spokes, DT nipples as selected and a Mavic Open Pro UST rim.

The SON 28 hub dynamo from Schmidt offers excellent smoothness and very high efficiency. Manufactured and developed in Germany, Schmidt dynamos generally last longer than the bikes in which they are fitted. The ideal complement is Schmidt’s Edelux lights, as the SonDelux lights are particularly low-loss yet still provide plenty of light even at low speeds.
Son 28 hub dynamo:
The Son 28 for 12 mm thru-axles. Until now, the discerning cyclist had to choose between the two. The thru-axle stiffens the suspension fork and allows for more precise positioning of the hub, which is particularly useful for disc brakes. At 440 g, the weight has been kept pleasingly low; the new SON 28 resembles the SONdelux in design and appearance. In the standard version, the flange spacing and bearing spacing have been increased by 12 mm and 10 mm respectively compared to the SONdelux. Compared to the SON 28 Classic model years 2000 to 2011, idle losses have been reduced by approx. 15 per cent and the weight by 140 g. The secret lies in the gearless design, which utilises high-quality materials and maintains tight tolerances – a feat likely only achievable through handcrafting by a dedicated small team. The dynamo is simply switched off electrically. Thanks to these optimisations, the no-load losses when switched off amount to just 1 watt and are imperceptible even to the most sensitive riders whilst cycling.
Mavic Open Pro UST Disc Rim:
The new high-end gravel, cross and touring Open Pro UST Disc rims from Mavic, tubeless-ready and with a 19 mm internal rim width for tyres from 28–47 mm wide.
Lightweight and extra-sturdy, the Mavic Open Pro UST rim weighs a super-light 430 grams, optimised to the maximum extent possible by the material. With a 19 mm internal rim width, it is ideal for tyres ranging from 28 to 47 mm in width. Double-eyelet, welded rim joint, flat-milled, ISMD 4 weight tuning and manufactured from high-quality, durable Maxtal aluminium. The Open Pro rim is tubeless-ready. To fit tubeless tyres, you will also need the tubeless rim tape (item no. V3720101) and the tubeless valve (item no. V3560101).
DT Swiss Competition spokes:
The double cold-forged spoke made from rust-resistant 18/10 chrome-nickel steel with a tapered middle section for robust, lightweight wheelsets. We recommend these spokes for virtually all wheelsets. Extremely durable and sufficiently lightweight, the DT Competition spokes enable wheel building of the highest standard. Thanks to the tapered section in the middle, the spokes absorb movements in the wheel exceptionally well, without compromising on lateral stiffness or durability.
DT Swiss Pro Lock spoke nipples:
Want to increase the lifespan of a wheel several-fold? That’s only possible with DT Pro Lock! This nipple features an integrated thread-locking system, developed and manufactured by DT Swiss. The two-component adhesive in the nipple thread prevents the spoke-nipple connection from loosening under the influence of operational loads and the cycling of the wheel during riding, thereby ensuring constant spoke tension.

DT Swiss Aero Comp spokes:
Designed for stable, laterally stiff yet aerodynamic wheelsets, the DT Swiss Aero Comp spoke is first cold-forged in the middle section to make it lighter and stronger. In a further complex process, it is flat-forged to optimise aerodynamic properties whilst simultaneously increasing material strength. The DT Aero Comp guarantees a balanced combination of stiffness, aerodynamics and durability.
DT Swiss Aero Lite spokes:
The DT Swiss Aerolite spoke is flatter and lighter than any other; the DT Swiss Aerolite spoke features an aerodynamic flat profile and is extremely lightweight. Thanks to the 0.9 x 2.3 mm aerodynamic mid-section, this spoke can be fitted to all standard hubs. The Cold Forging Technology (CFT) developed by DT Swiss makes the reduced and forged DT Aerolite the lightest stainless steel spoke and gives it excellent mechanical properties. Particularly suitable for super-light and fast road or cross-country wheelsets. 64 DT Aerolite spokes weigh an incredible 278 g at a length of 264 mm. Weight per spoke at a length of 264 mm: 4.31 grams
DT Swiss Pro Lock Squorx Pro Head spoke nipples:
The Squorx Pro Head nipples are required for the new DT Swiss rims in the new tubeless-ready series. Want to increase the lifespan of a wheel several-fold? That’s only possible with DT Pro Lock! This nipple features an integrated thread-locking system, developed and manufactured by DT Swiss. The two-component adhesive in the nipple thread prevents the spoke-nipple connection from loosening under the influence of operational loads and the loading and unloading of the wheel whilst riding, thereby ensuring constant spoke tension.
