Lightweight and robust aluminium rim with a 30 mm rim width, lightweight tapered hybrid 3-spoke design, e-bike hubs with Centerlock brake disc mount.
These HX 1700 Light Support wheels are fitted with lightweight, welded aluminium rims, which are tailored to the characteristics of lightweight eMTBs: agility and reliability. Particular emphasis was placed on the lightness of the rim to give riders greater agility for quick lane changes on the trails. Approved for a system weight of up to 130 kg.

DT Swiss HX 1700 Spline Light Support Hybrid:
Enhance the agility of lightweight eMTBs with this special aluminium wheelset. The HX 1700 SPLINE LS is designed for lightweight eMTBs and aims to strike the right balance between lightness and strength for more dynamic handling. The 350 hubs have been redesigned for eMTBs and offer greater resistance to acceleration and braking forces. Further changes include reinforced spokes without drastically increasing the weight. These wheels are ready for the fastest lines on technical sections and are perfect for taking fast, tight turns with ease.
BUILT TO ADVANCE
The latest generation of Light eMTBs aims to offer an enhanced riding experience and therefore combines the agility of an MTB with the assistance of a classic eMTB. Smaller motors ensure a lower system weight. To ensure the best possible performance, DT Swiss has closely examined the requirements for the new Light-eMTBs and found that the loads and torques exceed those of an MTB, even though the system weight remains virtually the same. The approval of a lower system weight opens up new possibilities for DT Swiss’s wheel engineers to combine the durability of hybrid MTB wheels with the renowned low weight of DT Swiss products.
DT Swiss HX 1700 Spline LS Hybrid Hubs:
Although the battery and motor have become smaller, they still add extra weight compared to conventional MTBs. However, light eMTBs are often ridden in the same way as conventional enduro bikes, which places additional stress on the components. For these reasons, the hub body has been redesigned. It offers greater resistance to the higher drive torques of the motors and the increased braking torques caused by the additional weight, thereby improving reliability without compromising lightness. High-quality bicycle hubs usually contain deep-groove ball bearings. These bearings have been optimised so that they rotate quickly, absorb radial forces and, at the same time, can accommodate axial forces to a certain extent. If the forces acting on the ball bearings or the raceway become too great, the bearings will wear out. The high localised load can cause indentations in the raceway, which prevent the balls from running smoothly. Excessive point loads can also lead to abrasion of the raceway, which can cause play. Due to the higher loads on an eMTB, adjustments to the ball bearings are also necessary. Consequently, the new generation of hybrid wheels feature larger ball bearings than the hub of the 240 EXP MTB. The larger ball bearings distribute the load over a wider area of the raceway, resulting in less wear.
Boost standard:
The thru-axle standard requires new hubs. The wider hub shell with the flanges positioned further out allows for wheels with greater lateral stiffness. On Boost hubs, the brake disc mount is also positioned further out. Therefore, these hubs cannot be fitted to frames with a narrower mounting dimension.
DT Swiss Ratchet Steel Freehub Body:
The proven DT Swiss Ratchet System freehub in a reinforced version with 24-tooth sprockets and stronger sprocket discs. The multi-tooth ratchet freehub body ensures loss-free power transmission. Thanks to the tool-free design of the DT Swiss rear hubs, they can be serviced and converted without tools. The freehub bodies are available as HG10 for Shimano and SRAM 8-10-speed and Shimano 11-speed MTB cassettes.
DT Swiss H 1700 Spline Hybrid Rims:
Built for tough e-bike, freeride and enduro use, the DT Swiss H 1700 rims, with a width of 30 mm, offer maximum stability; the rim bed is further reinforced to easily absorb high drive forces. With a 25 mm rim width, tyres ranging from 2.0 to 2.6 inches in width can be fitted. Thanks to new, extra-sturdy rim spokes, the DT Swiss Spline rims are ideally designed for upgrading with a tubeless kit.
DT Swiss Straightpull Hybrid 3-spoke:
With spokes that are thicker than those for MTBs but thinner than those for eMTBs, the Hybrid MTB LS spokes provide increased lateral and torsional stiffness compared to standard MTBs, without significantly affecting the weight. The increased lateral stiffness is better suited to the additional stresses of lightweight eMTBs, whilst the improved torsional stiffness enables a more direct power transfer from the hub to the rim. Furthermore, each spoke is constantly subjected to loading and unloading during a wheel rotation. This constant loading and unloading leads to fatigue in the spoke, which is mitigated by the thicker diameter.
