Shimano XT wheelset with Mavic EN 827 rims
The 27.5-inch wheelset for enduro use. Thanks to a 27 mm inner rim width, it is suitable for tyres up to 3.0-inch wide, and the robust Shimano XT hubs make it very durable and low-maintenance.
Despite the wide rims, the weight of the wheelset remains at just approx. 1970 grams
We offer this wheelset with different axle options, so you can put together the right version for your bike. The Shimano XT hubs available include the M8110B for 15x110 and 12x148mm Boost mounting, the M8010 for 15x100 and 12x142mm thru-axle mounting, and the M8000 for quick-release mounting.
Wheel building at TNC-Hamburg:
We hand-build these wheels exclusively for you. Thanks to over 30 years’ experience in wheel building, we extract the optimum in concentricity, durability and stiffness from the materials. These wheels are, of course, tested multiple times for truing, and we also pre-load the spokes longitudinally. This eliminates the need for re-truing over a long period of time.
Shimano XT M8010 / M8000 hubs
New seals and axle provide reliable protection against contamination of the bearings. Equipped with a new 4-pawl freehub body for loss-free power transmission. The Centerlock mount allows for easy mounting of Shimano Centerlock brake discs. An adapter is available for 6-bolt brake discs.
Mavic EN 827 Disc rim
The high-end enduro rim, with a 27 mm internal width, new hookless rim flange optimised for tubeless use, welded rim joint and eyelets, offering a good weight-to-stability ratio.
Wide enough to accommodate high-volume tyres up to 3.0” in width, featuring a super-sturdy welded rim joint, reinforced stainless steel spoke eyelets for even greater durability, and a rim profile specifically designed to withstand the stresses of disc brakes – all of which make the EN 827 the recommended choice for stable and lightweight Enduro wheelsets. Suitable for disc brakes only. Applications: Enduro, Trail, All Mountain.
DT Swiss Competition spokes:
The double cold-forged spoke made from rust-proof 18/10 chrome-nickel steel with a tapered middle section for robust, lightweight wheels. We recommend these spokes for virtually all wheels. Extremely durable and sufficiently lightweight, DT Competition spokes enable wheel building of the highest standard. Thanks to the tapered middle section, the spokes absorb movement in the wheel exceptionally well, without compromising on lateral stiffness or durability. Weight with brass nipples approx. 7 grams

DT Competition spokes:
The double cold-forged spoke made from rust-resistant 18/10 chrome-nickel steel with a tapered middle section for robust, lightweight wheels. We recommend these spokes for virtually all wheels. Extremely durable and sufficiently lightweight, DT Competition spokes enable wheel building of the highest standard. Thanks to the tapered middle section, the spokes absorb movements in the wheel exceptionally well, without compromising on lateral stiffness or durability. Weight including nipple approx. 7 grams
DT Swiss Aero Comp spokes:
Designed for stable, laterally stiff yet aerodynamic wheelsets, the DT Swiss Aero Comp spoke in the straight-pull version is first cold-forged in the middle section, making it lighter and stronger. In a further complex process, it is flat-forged to optimise aerodynamic properties whilst simultaneously increasing material strength. The DT Aero Comp guarantees a balanced combination of stiffness, aerodynamics and durability.
DT Swiss Aero Lite spokes:
The DT Swiss Aerolite spoke is flatter and lighter than any other; the DT Swiss Aerolite spoke features an aerodynamic flat profile and is extremely lightweight. Thanks to the 0.9 x 2.3 mm aerodynamic mid-section, this spoke can be fitted to all standard hubs. The Cold Forging Technology (CFT) developed by DT Swiss makes the reduced and forged DT Aerolite the lightest stainless steel spoke and gives it excellent mechanical properties. Particularly suitable for super-light and fast road or cross-country wheelsets. 64 DT Aerolite spokes weigh just an incredible 278 g at a length of 264 mm. Weight per spoke at a length of 264 mm: 4.31 grams
DT Squorx spoke nipples:
The DT Swiss Squorx Pro Head nipple combines ease of installation with light weight thanks to the DT Pro Head shape, combined with an additional Torx and square tool socket. The Torx socket provides a larger contact area during wheel building, ensuring that the force from the tool is better distributed across the nipple. The spherical contact area in the rim guarantees perfect alignment with the spoke.
Hookless rims, Tubeless Straight Side (TSS) rims:
are characterised by a hookless rim profile. Unlike hooked rims, they lack a mechanical form-fit between the tyre bead and the rim flange. On hookless rims, the tyre is held in place solely by the tyre bead and the frictional forces between the tyre and the rim sidewall. On a hooked rim, the tyre is additionally secured by the mechanical interlock between the tyre bead and the rim flange. Hookless setups are more sensitive to potential deviations in system tolerances. It is therefore essential that all specifications regarding hookless compatibility provided by tyre and wheel manufacturers are followed. Adherence to the maximum tyre pressure and maximum inner rim width is crucial for the safe use of hookless rims. The maximum specifications for air pressure and inner rim width when fitting to hookless rims and rim flanges can be found on the tyre packaging.
