29-inch MTB wheel DT Swiss 240 EXP

The rear wheel featuring DT Swiss 240 EXP hubs in Standard, Boost and Super Boost versions with tubeless-ready rims from DT Swiss. Hand-built in our specialist workshop.

DT Swiss 240 EXP Classic Hub:

With the DT Swiss 240 EXP hubs, minimal weight combined with extremely good durability is something of a rarity, particularly in hub construction. The new axle system, with 15 per cent more support width, increases hub stiffness. The ‘EXP’ in the DT Swiss 240 EXP hubs stands for the integration of the gear ring and threaded ring, which reduces the number of components and thus lowers the weight. A single coil spring ensures faster, complete engagement and thus greater reliability. The full interlocking of the pawls creates a large contact surface and thus low point loads, resulting in superior reliability. The stainless steel ball bearings have proven to be extremely reliable and durable since the introduction of the 240 hubs. The patented freewheel body operates with interlocking toothed discs. This guarantees loss-free power transmission. Straightpull refers to straight, non-offset spokes. Thanks to this technology, it is possible to achieve an ideal balance between weight and stability.

Wheel building at TNC-Hamburg:

We hand-build these wheels exclusively for you. With over 30 years’ experience in wheel building, we extract the optimum in concentricity, durability and stiffness from the materials. These wheels are, of course, pressure-tested multiple times; we also pre-load the spokes in both the radial and tangential directions. This eliminates the need for re-centring over a long period of time. We use DT Swiss spokes exclusively. These ensure outstanding durability of the wheelsets. For enduro use, we recommend brass nipples.

The tried-and-tested DT Swiss Star Ratchet System, in the new EXP version with the toothed disc freehub body, allows for easy conversion to various rotor standards.

DT Swiss tubeless-ready rims:

The new generation of DT Swiss rims, featuring an excellent stiffness-to-weight ratio and a new rim design. These rims are supplied with DT Squorx Pro Head nipples and must only be laced using these nipples and washers. The DT Swiss rims are equipped with specially adapted rim flanges for tubeless tape and can be easily upgraded to lightweight tubeless rims using DT Swiss tubeless tape

DT Competition spokes:

The double cold-forged spoke made from rust-resistant 18/10 chrome-nickel steel with a tapered middle section for robust, lightweight wheelsets. We recommend these spokes for virtually all wheelsets. Extremely durable and sufficiently lightweight, DT Competition spokes enable wheel building of the highest standard. Thanks to the taper in the middle section, the spokes absorb the movements in the wheel excellently, without compromising on lateral stiffness and durability. Weight with nipple approx. 7 grams.

DT Squorx spoke nipples:

The DT Swiss Squorx Pro Head nipple combines ease of installation with light weight thanks to the DT Pro Head shape, combined with an additional Torx and square tool socket. The Torx socket provides a larger contact area during wheel building, ensuring that the force from the tool is better distributed across the nipple. The spherical contact area within the rim guarantees perfect alignment with the spoke.
