Shimano Deore XT 8110 hub, 12-speed Micro Spline – DT Swiss rim

We offer the rear wheel with various DT Swiss tubeless ready rims, suitable for everything from cross-country to enduro riding. The robust Shimano XT hubs from the 12-speed series feature a Micro Spline freehub body, making them highly durable and low-maintenance. The Shimano Deore XT M8110 hubs are available in the wheelset with either standard or Boost hubs.

Wheel building at TNC-Hamburg:

We hand-build these wheelsets exclusively for you. Thanks to over 30 years’ experience in wheel building, we extract the optimum in concentricity, durability and stiffness from the materials. These wheelsets are, of course, tested multiple times; we also pre-load the spokes in both the radial and lateral directions. This eliminates the need for re-truing over a long period. We use DT Swiss spokes exclusively. These ensure outstanding durability of the wheelsets. For enduro use, we recommend brass nipples.

Shimano XT Hubs M8110:

With the Deore XT hubs, Shimano offers classic tapered-bearing MTB hubs that are highly durable and easy to maintain. Super-polished raceways and balls, double high-performance seals and easy adjustability ensure years of riding enjoyment. Recommended for a wide range of uses, from MTB to gravel and touring, the XT hubs provide a solid foundation for high-quality wheelsets. The new XT rear hubs with the Micro Spline freehub body for Shimano 12-speed MTB cassettes are only compatible with these. The raised hub flange significantly improves lateral stiffness.

Shimano Micro Spline 12-speed freehub body:

the first new freehub body system since the introduction of the HG10 freehub bodies almost 20 years ago. The fine-pitch gearing ensures a perfect fit for the new Shimano 12-speed MTB cassettes. Not compatible with older Shimano HG cassettes. The Micro Spline freehub body reduces weight with a lightweight cassette hub, where the smallest sprocket has 10 teeth. Smaller and more spaced-out teeth prevent sprocket damage on the freehub body, which is made from lightweight aluminium.

Please note that the XT M8110 hubs are not approved for use on e-bikes.

DT Swiss Disc rims:

We offer this rear wheel with a range of rims for use in everything from cross-country to enduro. The specifications for the individual rims can be found further down in the text.

The DT Swiss rims are equipped with rim flanges adapted for tubeless tape and can be easily upgraded to lightweight tubeless rims using DT Swiss tubeless tape.

DT Competition spokes:

The double cold-forged spoke made from rust-resistant 18/10 chrome-nickel steel with a tapered middle section for robust, lightweight wheels. We recommend these spokes for virtually all wheels. Extremely durable and sufficiently lightweight, DT Competition spokes enable wheel building of the highest standard. Thanks to the tapered middle section, the spokes absorb movements in the wheel exceptionally well, without compromising on lateral stiffness or durability. Weight with nipple approx. 7 grams

DT Competition Race spokes:

Just as versatile as the bent version of the DT Competition spoke, but in a straight design. They are optimally matched to the new straight-pull hubs and offer even greater durability compared to the conventional DT Competition spoke. Thanks to the extra-thin middle section, they save a further 70 g per wheel compared to the already lightweight DT Competition, whilst offering almost the same stiffness and durability.

DT Swiss Aero Comp spokes:

Designed for stable, laterally stiff yet aerodynamic wheelsets, the DT Swiss Aero Comp spoke in the straight-pull version is first cold-forged in the middle section, making it lighter and stronger. In a further complex process, it is flat-forged to optimise aerodynamic properties whilst simultaneously increasing material strength. The DT Aero Comp guarantees a balanced combination of stiffness, aerodynamics and durability.

DT Squorx spoke nipples:

The DT Swiss Squorx Pro Head nipple combines ease of installation with light weight thanks to the DT Pro Head shape, combined with an additional Torx and square tool socket. The Torx socket provides a larger contact area during wheel building, ensuring that the force from the tool is better distributed across the nipple. The spherical contact area within the rim guarantees perfect alignment with the spoke.
