Shimano Deore XT 8110 Straight-pull hubs, 12-speed Micro Spline – WTB KOM Light rims

The wheelset for cross-country, all-mountain and trail use. The very robust and lightweight WTB TCS rim and the robust Shimano XT hubs from the 12-speed series with the Micro Spline freehub body result in very durable and low-maintenance wheels for 12-speed Shimano MTB drivetrains. We offer this wheelset with WTB Light rims in 21 mm, 23 mm and 25 mm rim widths.

Wheel building at TNC-Hamburg:

We manufacture these wheels entirely by hand for you. Thanks to over 30 years’ experience in wheel building, we extract the optimum in truing, durability and stiffness from the materials. These wheels are, of course, tested multiple times for truing, and we also pre-load the spokes in the longitudinal direction. This eliminates the need for re-truing over a long period of time.

These wheelsets are made to order specifically for you, which is why we cannot offer a right of withdrawal for them. The handmade wheelsets are not eligible for a discount.

Shimano XT M8110 Straightpull Hubs:

The straight-pull version of the XT hub is only available in 28-hole. Thanks to the direct spoke mounting, this results in wheelsets that are just as stable as those with classic 36-hole hubs. With the Deore XT hubs, Shimano offers classic tapered-bearing MTB hubs that are highly durable and easy to maintain. Super-polished raceways and balls, double high-performance seals and easy adjustability ensure years of riding enjoyment. Recommended for a wide range of applications from MTB to gravel and touring, the XT hubs provide a solid foundation for high-quality wheelsets. The new XT rear hubs with the Micro Spline freehub body for Shimano 12-speed MTB cassettes are also only compatible with these. The raised hub flange significantly improves lateral stiffness.

Shimano Micro Spline 12-speed freehub body:

the first new freehub body system since the introduction of the HG10 freehub bodies almost 20 years ago. The fine-pitch gearing ensures a perfect fit for the new Shimano 12-speed MTB cassettes. Not compatible with older Shimano HG cassettes.

The Micro Spline freehub body reduces weight when used with a lightweight cassette hub, with the smallest sprocket having 10 teeth. Smaller and more widely spaced teeth prevent sprocket damage on the freehub body, which is made from lightweight aluminium.

WTB TCS KOM Light 23 rim:

Very lightweight, made from high-end WT69 aluminium, high-strength and featuring what is arguably the simplest tubeless system currently on the market. Available as a narrow, super-lightweight cross-country rim, through to wider trail rims, right up to the Plus models for really wide tyres.

The patented 4D spoke hole ensures the best possible spoke nipple fit and distributes tension more evenly over a larger area. This ensures excellent durability. The integration of the all-new WTB Solid Strip on the TCS rims delivers a very easy-to-fit and reliable tubeless system. A recessed channel in the centre of the TCS 2.0 rims allows for the installation of the all-new Solid Strip, which prevents the tubeless tape from sagging at the spoke holes and guarantees a smooth, even connection between tyre and rim.

DT Swiss spokes:

For this wheelset, we offer the standard DT Competition spokes – our recommendation for maximum stability – the Competition Race with slightly lower weight, and the DT Aero Comp with a flat middle section.

The double cold-forged spoke made from rust-resistant 18/10 chrome-nickel steel with a tapered middle section for robust, lightweight wheels. We recommend this spoke for virtually all wheelsets. Extremely durable and sufficiently lightweight, the DT Competition spokes enable wheel building at the highest level. Thanks to the tapered centre section, the spokes absorb movement in the wheel exceptionally well, without compromising on lateral stiffness or durability.

Spoke nipples:

We offer a wide variety of spoke nipples to go with the wheel set. The ‘standard’ durable and affordable brass nipples, coloured high-strength aluminium nipples, and the high-end Pro Lock spoke nipples with integrated screw lock for maximum spoke retention. The Pro Lock nipples are also available in brass and aluminium versions.
