Shimano Deore XT 8110 Hub Wheel Set, 12-speed Micro Spline – DT Swiss XR 391

The lightweight wheelset for cross-country and all-mountain use. With a 25 mm rim width, wide enough for voluminous cross-country tyres, very sturdy and weighing just 440
grams, the XR 391 rims provide the perfect foundation for a fast cross-country wheelset. Combined with the robust Shimano XT hubs from the 12-speed series featuring the Micro Spline freehub body, the whole setup is highly durable and low-maintenance. The Shimano Deore XT M8110 hubs allow the wheelset to be configured with either standard or Boost hubs.

Wheel building at TNC-Hamburg:

Hand-built in our specialist workshop. We manufacture these wheels entirely by hand for you, which is why we cannot offer a right of return for them. Thanks to more than 30 years of experience in wheel building, we extract the optimum in concentricity, durability and stiffness from the materials. These wheels are, of course, tested multiple times; we also pre-load the spokes in both the transverse and longitudinal directions. This eliminates the need for re-truing over a long period of time. We use DT Swiss spokes exclusively. These ensure outstanding durability of the wheelsets. For DH and Enduro use, we recommend brass nipples.

Shimano XT M8110 hubs:

With the Deore XT hubs, Shimano offers classic cone-bearing MTB hubs that are extremely durable and easy to maintain. Super-polished raceways and balls, double high-performance seals and easy adjustability ensure years of riding enjoyment. Recommended for a wide range of applications from MTB to gravel and touring, the XT hubs provide a solid foundation for high-quality wheelsets. The new XT rear hubs with the Micro Spline freehub body for Shimano 12-speed MTB cassettes are only compatible with these. The raised hub flange significantly improves lateral stiffness.

Shimano Micro Spline 12-speed freehub body:

the first new freehub body system since the introduction of the HG10 freehub bodies almost 20 years ago. The fine-pitch gearing ensures a perfect fit for the new Shimano 12-speed MTB cassettes. Not compatible with older Shimano HG cassettes.

The Micro Spline freehub body reduces weight when used with a lightweight cassette hub, with the smallest sprocket having 10 teeth. Smaller and more widely spaced teeth prevent sprocket damage on the freehub body, which is made from lightweight aluminium.

DT Swiss Competition spokes:

The double cold-forged spoke made from rust-resistant 18/10 chrome-nickel steel with a tapered middle section for robust, lightweight wheels. We recommend these spokes for virtually all wheels. Extremely durable and sufficiently lightweight, the DT Competition spokes enable wheel building of the highest standard. Thanks to the tapered section in the middle, the spokes absorb movements in the wheel exceptionally well, without compromising on lateral stiffness or durability.

DT Swiss XR 391 Disc rim

Modern XC rim: The right width for the tyres you need to tackle today’s demanding cross-country courses. The XR 391’s welded construction and glass-bead-blasted, anodised finish are in the same league as your high-quality cross-country bike. The off-road-specific profile, the SWISS alloy and the use of the PHR nipple connection enable the seemingly impossible combination of width, strength and lightness. These rims are supplied with special DT Squorx Pro Head nipples and PHR washers and must only be laced with these nipples. With the wide XM 511 rim, DT Swiss offers a rim for stable wheelsets with really wide tyres. Cleanly finished, with a welded bead and stainless steel eyelets, the DT offers high stability at a low weight

The DT Swiss rims are equipped with rim flanges adapted for tubeless tape and can be easily upgraded to lightweight tubeless rims using DT Swiss tubeless tape
