Shimano Deore XTR 9111 Straight-pull hubs, 12-speed Micro Spline - Mavic XM 1030 rims

The high-end wheelset for cross-country, all-mountain and trail riding. With a 30 mm inner rim width, the robust and lightweight XM 1030 rim from Mavic – suitable for tyres up to 2.8” wide – and the Shimano XTR hubs from the 12-speed series with the Micro Spline freehub body, this results in very lightweight, durable and low-maintenance wheels.

Wheel building at TNC-Hamburg:

We manufacture these wheels entirely by hand for you. Thanks to more than 30 years’ experience in wheel building, we extract the optimum in truing, durability and stiffness from the materials. These wheels are, of course, trued multiple times, and we also pre-tension the spokes in the longitudinal direction. This eliminates the need for re-truing over a long period.

These wheelsets are made to order specifically for you, which is why we cannot offer a right of withdrawal for them. The handmade wheelsets are not eligible for a discount.

Shimano XTR M9111 BS Straightpull Hub:

The Shimano XTR disc brake hub in the straight-pull version. Designed for a 3-cross spoke pattern, it offers the perfect conditions for particularly laterally stiff and durable wheelsets. Typical of Shimano XTR, the finest materials. Stainless steel ball rings, high-end polished raceways, angled bearings, double labyrinth seals and the titanium freehub body are the hallmarks of the Shimano XTR rear hubs. The new bearings and seals significantly increase the service life of the Shimano XTR hubs. Designed for maximum wheel stiffness with a large flange spacing and an increased flange at the sprocket side

Shimano Micro Spline 12-speed freehub body:

the first new freehub body system since the introduction of the HG10 freehub bodies almost 20 years ago. The fine-pitch spline ensures a perfect fit with the new Shimano 12-speed MTB cassettes. Not compatible with older Shimano HG cassettes.

The Micro Spline freehub body reduces weight with a lightweight cassette hub, whilst the smallest sprocket has 10 teeth. Smaller and more widely spaced teeth prevent sprocket damage on the freehub body, which is made from lightweight aluminium.

Mavic XM 1030 rim

The high-end trail rim, featuring ISM 4D weight tuning, 30 mm internal width, hookless rim flange optimised for tubeless use, welded rim joint and reinforced rim holes, offering an excellent weight-to-stability ratio.

Super-sturdy welded rim joint; despite its 30 mm rim width, the welded rim is exceptionally light at 610 grams, thanks to ISM 4D weight tuning and Inter Spoke Milling, which removes material precisely where it is not needed without weakening the highly stressed spoke holes. This form of weight saving enables faster acceleration without compromising on durability. Optimised to the maximum extent the material allows, the XM 1030 is the perfect high-end trail rim

DT Swiss spokes:

For this wheelset, we offer the standard DT Competition spokes – our recommendation for maximum stability – the Competition Race with slightly lower weight, and the DT Aero Comp with a flat middle section.

The double cold-forged spoke made from rust-resistant 18/10 chrome-nickel steel with a tapered middle section for robust, lightweight wheels. We recommend this spoke for virtually all wheelsets. Extremely durable and sufficiently lightweight, the DT Competition spokes enable wheel building at the highest level. Thanks to the tapered section, the spokes absorb movement in the wheel exceptionally well, without compromising on lateral stiffness or durability.
