Mavic Crossmax S Carbon Disc weights
As a result of Mavic’s expertise and years of development on the most demanding XC trails, the new Crossmax S sets new standards. Thanks to its optimised carbon construction and extremely responsive handling, it offers riders a bike that accelerates instantly and maintains control even on the most technically demanding singletrack. With the Crossmax S, XC reaches a new dimension.
Mavic Carbon S Disc rims:
Adaptive Layup: Strong where it counts, light everywhere else. Carbon is lighter than aluminium, but weight always adds up. By using the right amount of fibres in areas where the rim is subjected to less stress, the rim’s weight is reduced without compromising reliability, making the wheels more responsive and more fun to ride on climbs. Up to 70 g weight saving per rim. The 30 mm wide, hookless UST rim of the Crosmax S Carbon
The wide carbon rim with an optimised carbon layup offers exceptional stiffness whilst minimising shocks and vibrations. Oversized axles and bearings guarantee ideal lateral stiffness for unrivalled cornering, handling and power transfer. Furthermore, the 24 butted spokes enhance the wheel’s responsiveness, offer a flawless appearance and, above all, an unrivalled riding experience. In addition to its exceptional riding characteristics, the Allroad SL Carbon is designed for durability and easy maintenance. The ID360 freehub is designed to make your life easier and minimise maintenance, so you can focus on riding rather than repairs.
Mavic Classic Disc Hubs:
The Mavic Classic hubs are equipped with a larger 17 mm axle diameter and larger bearings. This increases the torsional stiffness of the axles by approximately 35 per cent. The tried-and-tested Mavic QR M auto industrial bearings are used in the Infinity hubs. Equipped with the Instant Drive toothed freehub body, the ORM auto axle system and self-aligning bearings, they ensure maintenance-free operation over a long period.
Mavic Disc Hub Compatibility:
The oversized aluminium axles allow for easy conversion to all standard axle systems. The Infinity front hub is compatible with QR9x100mm quick-release and QR12x100mm thru-axle mounts; the Infinity rear hub is compatible with 10x135mm quick-release mounts and 12x142mm and 12x135mm thru-axles. Conversion to a 15x100 mm front wheel setup is possible by replacing the entire hub axle
Mavic Instant Drive 360 freehub body
The Instant Drive 360 freehub system is super-light and ensures rapid power transfer with a mere 9-degree engagement angle. A large, contact-free rubber seal reduces friction. And a wide selection of axle stubs ensures compatibility with many mounting standards. The oversized aluminium axle and the hardened aluminium freehub body save 40 g. Two sprockets with 40-tooth profiles ensure fast and loss-free power transfer. A radial seal guarantees low friction at high speeds and perfect water resistance. This freehub body is easy to convert and is available in an HG11 version for Shimano and SRAM 8–11-speed, SRAM XDR 12-speed road bike and Campagnolo 9–12-speed ED cassettes. A rubber damper is fitted as standard, which can be removed. For those who prefer a slightly more distinctive sound.
Mavic spokes:
Classic J-bend steel spokes, high-strength and highly resilient; the durability of Mavic stainless steel spokes is exceptionally high.
Mavic Tubeless System:
The new rim bed makes fitting tubeless tyres easier. The pronounced and wider grooves in the rim bed significantly simplify tubeless fitting. Mavic is thus setting the standard for easy tubeless fitting. The fitting process is no different from that of standard folding tyres. This allows the advantages of tubeless tyres – lower rolling resistance, greater riding comfort and reduced risk of punctures – to come into their own.
Of course, Mavic UST wheels can also be used with standard folding and clincher tyres and inner tubes without any issues. When out and about, we recommend carrying a standard inner tube as a quick puncture repair solution.
Hookless TSS (Tubeless Straight Side) rims:
are characterised by their hookless rim profile. Unlike hooked rims, they do not have a mechanical interlock between the tyre bead and the rim flange. On hookless rims, the tyre is held in place solely by the tyre bead and the frictional forces between the tyre and the rim sidewall. On a hooked rim, the tyre is additionally secured by the mechanical interlock between the tyre bead and the rim flange. Hookless setups are more sensitive to potential deviations in system tolerances. It is therefore essential that all specifications regarding hookless compatibility provided by tyre and wheel manufacturers are followed. Adherence to the maximum tyre pressure and maximum inner rim width is crucial for the safe use of hookless rims. The maximum specifications for air pressure and inner rim width when fitting to hookless rims and rim flanges can be found on the tyre packaging.
