SINC ceramic ball bearings have been developed by DT Swiss as a system. They are based on balls made from the ceramic material silicon nitride, Si3N4, which is extremely durable and resistant to wear and corrosion. The bearing rings are made from a specially developed steel alloy tailored to the properties of the ceramic material and are precision-ground. This combination reduces rolling resistance to an absolute minimum and ensures a longer service life compared to conventional ball bearings.
But it is not just the bearing itself that is designed as a system. It is only by adjusting the tolerances to within a thousandth of a millimetre, precisely matching the tolerances of the bearing seats in DT Swiss hubs, that SINC Ceramic bearings deliver their full performance and offer a decisive advantage over competing products.

Even when installed, the optimal clearance between the ceramic balls and the bearing ring is ensured. This ensures the lowest possible rolling resistance and prevents wear on the bearings. Thanks to the combination of ceramic balls and steel bearing rings – hybrid bearings – there can be no corrosion between the balls and the ring, which significantly improves service life. Furthermore, the bearing ring is constantly smoothed by the extremely hard balls, ensuring permanently minimal rolling resistance. The bearing cage, which holds the balls in position, is made from a material adapted to the ceramic balls and is specifically developed for each bearing size. This ensures that the balls and cage fit together perfectly, further minimising friction within the bearing. The high-quality sealing system of SINC Ceramic bearings guarantees optimal performance with minimal friction under all conditions. This is achieved through various measures: a sealing ring is used only on the outer side, whilst a protective ring is fitted on the inner side. The seal seat is precision-ground to ensure perfect concentricity of the seal and thus minimal rolling resistance. This technology is unique worldwide and is used exclusively in SINC Ceramic bearings.
